  • 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗨𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 As high-performing women, we often step into leadership roles ready to make an impact, only to feel blindsided by issues that weren’t disclosed during the hiring process. Sound familiar? You’re in a new role, facing unexpected challenges, and throwing in the towel isn’t an option. But thriving? That’s still within your control. The Problem: You’re in a fresh leadership role, but now you're dealing with hidden issues—operational gaps, team resistance, or legacy challenges that no one mentioned. It’s frustrating, but the key to succeeding lies in resetting your mindset to focus on what’s within your control. 𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙤 𝙏𝙖𝙘𝙠𝙡𝙚 𝙄𝙩: 𝘙𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘨𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘓𝘰𝘰𝘱: Acknowledge the frustration and catch yourself when you’re stuck in the “if only I’d known” mindset. That’s a sign it’s time to shift. 𝘙𝘦𝘧𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯: Ask yourself, “What growth opportunity does this situation offer?” Perhaps it’s a chance to build resilience, hone strategic agility, or foster a stronger team alignment. 𝘐𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘎𝘪𝘧𝘵: Embrace this as a period to deepen your leadership toolkit. The unexpected challenges can build new skills that strengthen your long-term leadership impact. 𝘞𝘩𝘺 𝘐𝘵 𝘔𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴: Dwelling on what “should have been” will only drain your energy. Instead, focusing on what you can control keeps you empowered and adaptable. The sooner you shift, the more effectively you can turn these obstacles into stepping stones for career growth. Want to learn more about reframing challenges into opportunities for growth? • I have good news and bad news. The good news? You can conquer your inner critic. The bad news? You can’t entirely vanquish it. Let’s get one thing straight: everyone, everywhere, has an inner critic—a voice sitting in judgment of our every move. It’s the voice that harshly scrutinises our mistakes, far more than we’d ever judge someone we love. It’s the part of us that points out all the ways we’re “not good enough,” comparing our flaws to others' strengths. For some, this voice is louder and more impactful than others. In fact, 61% of women say it holds them back at work. Now, back to the good news. Through intentional activities and habits, you can conquer your inner critic. While it may always be there, you can learn to quiet it, freeing yourself to focus on embracing your ambition, femininity, and power. Imagine the freedom of putting your energy into becoming the leader—and person—you truly want to be. Ready to start? • 𝗗𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀? 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼! The latest Language Bias in Performance Feedback 2024 report by @Textio reveals a concerning trend: 76% of women received explicitly negative feedback, compared to just 2% of men—even though all participants were high performers. Women’s feedback often contained personality-based terms like abrasive and difficult, while men’s focused on the quality of their work. This bias was consistent regardless of the manager's gender and is even more pronounced across racial groups. For high-performing women, this disparity in feedback can limit growth, especially when it leans toward personality critiques. But there are ways to reclaim control and ensure feedback fuels your development: 1️⃣ Proactively Ask for Specific Feedback on Key Capabilities Take charge by requesting feedback on specific areas of skill, rather than waiting for feedback to be offered (and potentially biased). For example, try: “Can you give me 2 examples of when I demonstrated [capability] well and why it was impactful?” This strategy helps shift the focus to measurable contributions and reduces the risk of receiving generalized or personality-based feedback. 2️⃣ Challenge Unfair Feedback with Three Key Questions If you’re given feedback that feels biased or vague, particularly around personality, counter it by asking for clarification. Try asking: 💥 “Can you provide specific examples of when this happened?” 💥 “Can you explain the impact you observed?” 💥 “How would you approach this situation?” This approach encourages feedback givers to move from vague judgments to constructive, actionable advice. 📊 Overcoming biased feedback isn't just about pushing back—it's about ensuring your performance is assessed on merit. Let’s work towards more fair and impactful feedback by taking ownership of the process. Oh and don't forget as a leader to check your own bias when giving feedback! #Leadership #Feedback #Bias #CareerDevelopment #OwnYourAmbition #WomenInLeadership #Performance

  • 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿 🔍 In leadership, success isn’t just about our self-view; it’s defined by how others perceive us. For women, feedback often comes with biases—either overly critical or sugar-coated. Both types can hold you back if you don’t take control. Without insightful, honest feedback, we’re often left in the dark about how our actions resonate with others. This lack of external perspective can stunt our growth, limit influence, and prevent us from truly elevating our leadership. Missing feedback means missing out on the chance to refine your approach, strengthen relationships, and address blind spots before they become career obstacles. Over time, this disconnect between self-perception and others’ perceptions can lead to stalled career progression, disengaged teams, and reduced effectiveness. Receiving feedback is a crucial part of growth, but quality over quantity matters. The key? Get actionable, specific feedback that drives change by: 1. 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰: 💡 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩: ask for feedback based on examples of specific capabilities like accountability, building trust, or communicating vision. 💡 𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙢𝙪𝙘𝙝 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙙𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩: ask for a specific number of examples 💡 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪: If you know you respond best to positive feedback then ask for positive examples, if you thrive on growth oriented feedbacks ask for where you could have done better Try this format: "Can you give me <number> examples of when I have demonstrated <capability> really well and why this was so impactful" 2. 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗮 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲: Make feedback a routine, valued part of conversations. Signal that team, leader and peer input is safe and welcomed. Even better, circle back on how you implemented feedback! The longer you delay, the more your perception gap may widen. Without actively seeking feedback, your leadership risks stagnation, with missed opportunities to grow and excel. If you want to dive deeper into getting powerful feedback let me know. Part of my 12-Week Power Pivot program includes getting 360 degree survey results to deepen your understanding of impact. • 🌟 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗶𝘃𝗼𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 🌟 For leaders stepping up to the next level, learning to delegate effectively is often the key to expanding impact—but it’s rarely simple. Delegation is more than assigning tasks; it’s about empowering others while ensuring that you stay focused on your highest priorities. The 12-Week Power Pivot Program is designed to support leaders on this journey, guiding you to step confidently into your next role with a clear roadmap and the skills needed to lead with purpose and ease. Here’s how the Power Pivot Program sets you up for success: 1️⃣ Define Your Motivational Anchors: We start by exploring what drives you and how you can align your ambitions with a fulfilling career path. Knowing your "why" fuels your motivation and makes delegating tasks easier by connecting each action to your bigger goals. 2️⃣ Identify Your Unique Strengths: You’ll gain clarity on your personal strengths and areas for growth, helping you see what only you can bring to the table. This insight is crucial for delegating effectively—allowing you to leverage others’ strengths and focus on your strategic contributions. 3️⃣ Build Confidence: Delegating requires confidence, not only in others but also in your own leadership. Through tailored coaching, the program helps you build self-assurance in your decisions, so you can lead without micromanaging and trust your team fully. 4️⃣ Own Your Ambition: The final phase is about embracing the bigger picture and taking bold steps toward your career goals. You’ll learn to set clear expectations, communicate powerfully, and lead with authority, creating an environment where delegation thrives and your team grows under your guidance. • I’ve been working with a client who’s feeling dismissed in meetings and not getting the traction on her great ideas. One of the techniques we’ve been working on to help her both feel more authentic and get better results with her peers her labelling their emotions If you’re pitching an idea or negotiating an outcome and meeting resistance, try labelling their emotions. If someone pushes back, say, “It sounds like you’re worried about X,” then pause. 🔑 Actionable Tip: Labelling not only calms tensions but opens up a deeper discussion, putting you back in control. ✨ Mindset shift: The goal isn't to win—it's to lead the conversation. #NegotiateLikeABoss #NegotationTactics #womeninleadership #careergrowth #Leadership #Leadershipcoaching #Transformandlead
