Australia is making strides towards gender equality in leadership—but there’s still a long way to go. Women make up 51% of the workforce but hold just 19.4% of CEO roles and 32.5% of key management positions. Add to that the gender pay gap, and it’s clear more needs to be done. At UN Women Australia, we’re proud to partner with the QUT Business School to offer the Women in Leadership Excellence Scholarship, empowering women to access MBA programs, upskill, and break through these barriers. #WomenInLeadership #MBA #Scholarship #Diversity #DEI

UN Women Australia is devastated to learn of the tragic and sudden passing of Lisa Ronson, an enigmatic, purpose driven woman, mother, marketer, and wonderful human being. Lisa was a founding partner in the Unstereotype Alliance and a strong and consistent advocate for smashing stereotypes, committed to equality and fairness for all of us. Throughout her remarkable career, Lisa was a trailblazing leader who consistently championed diversity and inclusion. Lisa's dedication to mentoring young talent and her passionate advocacy for women will continue to inspire future generations. Vale Lisa Ronson.
Yesterday, Unstereotype Alliance received the shocking and sad news that much-loved and admired leader of industry, Lisa Ronson, had passed away. Lisa was an outstanding woman who will leave an indelible mark on our world. Just as she had an enormous impact in her numerous high-profile marketing roles, she too was an integral support when we launched Unstereotype Alliance Australia - testament to her commitment to using our industry as a force for good, just as she herself was a force for good. Our thoughts and condolences are with Lisa’s husband Chris, her son Ben, and her friends and colleagues throughout the industry. Vale Lisa Ronson.

In the last six months, eight more First Nations women have tragically lost their lives to domestic violence in the Northern Territory, bringing the total to 82 since 2000. On Monday, the findings of a landmark inquiry into the deaths of four women were handed down, with 35 recommendations for urgent action. The NT coroner called this epidemic a "national shame" and announced a second major inquiry to address the crisis. This #16Days of Activism, we stand united against gender-based violence with our First Nations sisters. There is #NoExcuse for violence against women and girls. Together, we can break the cycle and create a world where women and girls are #SafeEverywhereAlways. Feeling unsafe shouldn’t be a daily reality – but for too many women in Australia, it is. New research from Finder reveals alarming statistics: ❗ 70% of women feel uncomfortable, and nearly half feel unsafe, in everyday situations where men report much lower levels of concern. ❗ Women feel less safe than men in public spaces, while accessing essential services, and even in their own homes. UN Women Australia reposted this
Today, on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, we stand united in the fight against gender-based violence. UN Women Australia is committed to creating a world where women and girls are safe, everywhere, always. This latest report from UN Women is a stark reminder that we still have far to go. Every 10 minutes, a woman is killed due to violence—often by a partner or family member. This is not just a statistic; these are women's lives. Today also marks the start of UN Women Australia's #SafeEverywhereAlways campaign, a call to action to support a national movement to end femicide, to empower women, and to ensure that violence against women becomes a thing of the past. We must continue to challenge harmful norms, hold perpetrators accountable, and invest in prevention and support services. Together, we can build a future where violence against women is eradicated, and safety is a universal right. From home to work, and everywhere in between, women and girls deserve to live free from fear, intimidation, and violence. Yet: ⚠️ 1 in 3 women worldwide have experienced physical or sexual violence. ⚠️ In Australia, 1 in 2 women face sexual harassment, and every four days, a woman is violently killed. These aren’t just numbers—they’re a national disgrace. This #16Days of Activism, join us in standing against gender-based violence. Together, we can create a world where women and girls are #SafeEverywhereAlways. https://lnkd.in/gx5GWjM3
