  • Unison expanded its impact in housing and homelessness services last year, amplifying renter voices by platforming those with lived experience. Our key 2024 achievements include: 🔹 Implementing the Buckley Street Supportive Housing model at Buckley St, Elizabeth St Common Ground, and Make Room. 🔹 Launching an online portal to improve access to Initial Assessment & Planning services. 🔹 Creating a new role to oversee tenancy tribunal functions. In partnership with cohealth, Launch Housing, and Wyndham H3 Alliance, we’ve helped sustain tenancies and improve housing outcomes for renters. • Community housing is for everyone. It provides a safety net for all Victorians, including essential workers, people with disabilities, older community members, and families escaping violence. For many, the line between “just managing” and falling on hard times is incredibly thin. Community housing provides a stable foundation so that people can move forward with their lives. • Housing First is an internationally recognised approach that prioritises stable housing as the first step in supporting people who have experienced long-term or recurring homelessness. It pairs rapid housing with flexible, person-centred and trauma-informed support. The 8 Housing First Principles for Australia guide approaches to end homelessness and address structural disadvantage. Make Room, Unison's latest development, follows a service delivery model aligned with Housing First Principles. Our dedicated team—alongside our partners cohealth and Ngwala Willumbong Aboriginal Corporation — are embedding these principles into the work we do, providing support and helping renters to achieve their goals.   Learn more about Make Room and its unique service delivery model here: bit.ly/3cYw4Ue #HousingFirst #MakeRoom #Melbourne #VIC
