Our Uniting Komak Program was proud to be nominated for the Outstanding Settlement Contribution Awards (OSCAs), held last month. The ceremony was a valuable opportunity to build networks, learn about innovative refugee and migration programs across Australia, and celebrate the incredible work being done in this field. While the award went to another deserving initiative, the nomination itself is a testament to the dedication and impact of the Uniting Komak Program in fostering meaningful change and empowering the Afghan community.

Uniting's Social Impact Consulting (USIC) team enjoyed being part of the recent South Australian Financial Counsellors Association Conference. With a focus on strong foundations, the conference brought together stakeholders from industry, government, financial services and the financial counselling sector to share information, experiences and ideas. USIC consultant Susan Fraser OAM presented on the power of strengths-based language and the impact it can have on consumers experiencing vulnerability. Reach out to the USIC team to see how our strengths-based language training module can empower your staff to drive better outcomes for customers. https://lnkd.in/guwUReKz or phone (03) 9051 6813.

Today staff and volunteers took part in the Walk Against Family Violence to raise awareness of gender-based and family violence, and encourage people to speak up and take action to prevent it from happening. Family violence is the single largest contributor to homelessness for women in Australia and the leading contributor to preventable illness, disability and death for women aged 15 to 44.
