Updates

  • UNSW First Nations Business Society is excited to share our new artwork Representing our society and our story: At the centre of the artwork is the gathering symbol, embodying the UNSW First Nations Business Society. This represents the core of the community, where knowledge is shared, and connections are made. Surrounding this are depictions of the land of the Bidjigal and Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, honouring the traditional custodians of the territory where the society learns and grows. Radiating outward are circular elements, symbolising the strong connections between the UNSW First Nations Business Society and its members. Each circle represents a different group: high school Indigenous students encouraged to pursue business studies, current students developing their skills and building their personal brands, and alumni who continue to be part of this vibrant community. Further circular elements represent the vast network of connections the society has with UNSW Business School and Australia’s largest organisations. These patterns highlight the society's role in supporting these organisations' Reconciliation Action Plans (RAPs) and community engagements from a student and university perspective. Grey motifs at the top and bottom of the artwork symbolise the deep connections that the First Nations people have with the land and water all over Australia. These motifs serve as a reminder of the enduring bond between the people and the natural elements that sustain life. Scattered throughout the artwork are kangaroo tracks, representing one of Australia’s native animals and the spirit of always moving forward. These tracks symbolise progress, growth, and the journey of learning and development that the UNSW First Nations Business Society fosters among its members and within the broader community.
