Alpine Resorts Victoria have recently announced the approval of the Lakeside Development Project at Falls Creek Alpine Resort. The precinct development was identified in the Victorian Alpine Resorts Visitor Economy Development Plan we prepared in 2021 as a key transformative investment project, Urban Enterprise also supported the project through a visitor research project which identified likely use and support for the project by community and visitors to Falls Creek. This development has the opportunity to activate and strengthen the Falls Creeks visitor economy year round by creating a visitor hub overlooking the scenic Rocky Valley Dam offering food, activities and visitor facilities. We congratulate Alpine Resorts Victoria in achieving planning approval for the hub and supporting destination development initiatives that encourage year round visitation to Victoria’s Alpine Resorts. An excellent event to end the year hosted by the Victorian State Practitioner Network of Economic Development Australia Limited talking all things flexible work and the importance of integrating these spaces into community facilities. Great to see clients and industry colleagues and have a chat over a beverage post event. Looking forward to attending more practitioner focused events in 2025! #industryevent #networking #economicdevelopment #learning
A fantastic turnout at the Victorian State Practitioner Network (SPN) event, Designing Infrastructure for Remote and Hybrid Teams: The Power of Flexible Workspaces. Attendees heard from Founder, Coworking Counsel Consulting, Sheree McIntyre, who provided insights into how local governments can drive economic growth through flexible workspace initiatives, followed by a panel discussion with Peter Forbes [ACEcD], Fides-Mae Santos and Mireia M. who shared case studies from their local governments. The event concluded with networking at Sherlock Holmes to celebrate another busy year of economic development in Victoria. Last week members of the UE team attended the Planning Institute of Australia 2024 Awards for Planning Excellence. We were pleased to be recognised for our work on the 'Activating Lake Eildon Masterplan' which was awarded a commendation in the Strategic Planning Project category. This project was undertaken for Murrindindi Shire Council who are currently seeking funding to deliver the actions from the Masterplan which will unlock private investment opportunities in and around Eildon township and Lake Eildon. We would like to congratulate all the winners and finalists from the awards - the event truly was a showcase of some fantastic planning projects that can have positive impacts on the community and infrastructure across the State. #PIAawards #planning #economicdevelopment #awards #planninginstituteofAustralia

Last week we facilitated a successful business workshop for the City of Greater Dandenong to support the future Council Plan and Economy and Place Strategy. It's always pleasing to work with engaged local businesses to find out their needs, aspirations and priorities for the future! Many exciting and innovative ideas were discussed to make Dandenong a better place to live, work and visit. A big thank you to Acting Coordinator Growth and Investment, Kate Harris for organising today’s session and the businesses for giving up their valuable time to contribute. #Councilplan #Economicdevelopment #industryworkshop #facilitation

Join the Economic Development Australia (EDA) Victorian State Practitioner Network (SPN) for the end of year event, Designing Infrastructure for Remote and Hybrid Teams: The Power of Flexible Workspaces. Post pandemic we are seeing a big shift in how people work – the rise of remote and hybrid work isn’t just changing where people work, but how our cities and regions grow. Economic development professionals have a critical role to play in ensuring their communities have the infrastructure needed to support this new way of working. From high-speed internet and smart buildings to well-planned coworking hubs, it’s about creating environments where people can thrive—whether they’re working from home, a local workspace, or a mix of both. This event will explore how workplaces can utilise infrastructure development to drive economic growth. The EDA Victoria State Practitioner Network Committee invites you to join them for this insightful event followed by an informal networking function to meet fellow economic development colleagues and celebrate the end of a fantastic year. We look forward to seeing you there!
