It was such a pleasure seeing many ocean scientists and professionals as well as undergrad, Master and PhD students join the annual OCEN1001 Global Oceans Challenges Movie Festival at the The University of Western Australia! We showcased a series of incredible short documentaries on ocean pollution, offshore wind energy and sea level rise, all produced by our students, while the audience nibbled on freshly baked popcorn. It was a truly amazing effort by this year's OCEN1001 2024 cohort including Megan Collins Emma Carver Michele Juul Hannibaldsen Daisy Reeves Rane Dunne Ryan Siew Rosalie Schmitt Madelaine B. Today at the 2024 International Conference on Ocean Energy the Blue Economy CRC project led by The University of Western Australia and project partners launched the Ocean Wave Energy in Australia Report - a comprehensive overview of the ocean #waveenergy sector in Australia. The report details an overview of our ocean wave resource, market opportunities, applications and integration, developing a wave energy industry and an environmental and social analysis. Hugh Wolgamot, project lead from The University of Western Australia states: “Australia has the best wave energy resource in the world but wave energy does not feature in most conversations around renewable energy opportunities. Our CORL team had an amazing time at the International Conference on Coastal Engineering in Rome, Italy. Lots of great presentations and exciting opportunities for collaboration. Well attended talks were given by Chao Tang, Jianjun Huang, Renan Fonseca da Silva, Diana Vargas, Justin Geldard , Jeff Hansen , Ryan Lowe , Thalles Araújo and Arnold van Rooijen on innovative lab/field observations and numerical modelling covering a range of topics including artificial reefs, nature-based solutions and shoreline dynamics. #ICCE2024 The University of Western Australia The UWA Oceans Institute

It was a pleasure to open our doors to the public today for the Annual Shenton Park Field Station Open Day. Thanks to all who took the time to attend, we enjoyed showing you about and answering your questions. Thanks also to the volunteer guides, who helped by getting all our guests to the CORL on time for the tours.

Some great representations of our research team at #ICCE2024 today with talks by: Jeff Hansen on sediment transport across shore-attached sand ridges, Thalles Araújo on coastal erosion along reef-fronted beaches and Arnold van Rooijen on runup reduction by porous structures.
