The voice of Victorian farmers and rural communities since 1979.
About us
The Victorian Farmers Federation is an active, powerful lobby group dedicated to the interests of farmers and making a difference to communities. With a strong record of successful political advocacy and leadership, the VFF has generated substantial benefits for the agriculture sector since its formation in 1979. The VFF ensures farmers in Victoria have the freedom to operate their businesses, do so with the best available health and welfare practices and are kept informed about new and emerging ideas, technologies and markets. Our network of branches connects farmers across Victoria to identify and act on issues within their own communities. There are seven commodity groups under the banner of the VFF - dairy through the United Dairyfarmers of Victoria, livestock, grains, horticulture, chicken meat, eggs and pigs, and Flowers Victoria. Farmers' Fund is a commercial brand that is owned by the VFF for the purpose of delivering social impact from the sale of milk for on-farm innovation.

Love rural and regional Victoria, in particular. It is good policy which drives benefits to those Victorians outside of Melbourne.

The Commonwealth Government's announcement to purchase 30,614 megalitres of water from Duxton Water has sent off alarm bells in Basin communities. “Cozying up with corporates to buy more water, kills family farms and drives up the cost of living. We know that and won’t stand idle and watch it happen,"- VFF Water Council Chair Andrew Leahy. More: https://lnkd.in/g7_x4Yy8

This video taken from Volcano Produce near Warrnambool sums it up really...it's still incredibly dry in parts of Victoria, with record low rainfall in some parts. A reminder farmers in eligible LGAs can apply for co-contribution grants of up to $5,000 as part of the On Farm Drought Infrastructure Grant Program. Food for thought? The European Union’s Vision for Agriculture and Food focuses on simplifying regulations, to ensure farming remains competitive. VFF President Brett Hosking caught up with 3AW Melbourne's rural team on whether something similar should be looked at here. Listen: https://lnkd.in/gvwq_xKn
