  • It's beginning to look a lot like... Workcations. 🏖️💼 'Tis the season for remote working requests. Employees boarding lengthy international flights might fancy tacking work to the other side of a holiday. If you're receiving remote work requests, here are a few points to consider: 🧭 Are you tracking or not tracking? Tracking is not just about compliance (although it helps!). Duty of care and managing cyber security risks are taking centre stage in employer responsibilities. 🛂 Does your employee have the right to work overseas? i.e. are they a citizen of the country they are travelling to? 📃 Compliance (you knew we'd mention it) - Could the employee trigger tax, payroll or social security obligations for you? Visit Vialto's #MobilityAgility survey for insights on how other organisations are supporting international remote work for their employees https://brnw.ch/21wJ7GP or reach out to your Vialto crew. #Workcation #RemoteWorking

  • Over the weekend, Australia's new Skills in Demand visa program came into effect. Key features of the Skills in Demand visa in comparison to the Temporary Skill Shortage visa program include a single occupation list for the ‘Core Skills’ stream of the Skills in Demand visa, a reduction of qualifying work experience to one year for all visa applicants and the ability to count time spent working with any sponsoring employer towards the permanent residence requirement for the ‘Temporary Residence Transition’ stream of the Subclass 186 visa. Would you like to learn more? Please join us this Wednesday 11 December 2024 for a webinar covering the latest updates in Australian immigration, including a deep dive into the new Skills in Demand visa program. • *** Australia’s Skills in Demand Visa to come into effect on 7 December*** The Department of Home Affairs has just announced the Skills in Demand Visa will replace the Temporary Skills Shortage Visa from 7 December. The new Core Skills Occupation List, which will underpin the second tier of the Skills in Demand Visa, was released just today. The changes will likely be effected by an update to the Migration Regulations, rather than waiting for new legislation to pass. Further details to be announced soon. We will be hosting a webinar on the new Skills in Demand Visa next Wednesday 11 December. Please register here if you would like to attend: https://lnkd.in/gyG6w-Gx

  • *** Skills in Demand Visa Delayed *** The long awaited legislation for the new Skills in Demand visa did not pass in the last Australian parliamentary sitting for 2024, meaning the implementation of the new Skills in Demand visa has effectively been postponed.  The next Australian parliamentary sitting is set to be in February 2025, effectively meaning we are unlikely to see any tangible changes before the end of 2024. Importantly, the Temporary Skills Shortage visa program in its current form will remain in place as Australia’s primary temporary work visa pathway for sponsoring skilled overseas workers. We understand the constantly evolving Australian immigration landscape can be challenging to navigate. The team at Vialto are on hand to assist you with understanding how to strategise and structure your workforce planning and internal migration programs, ensuring minimal disruption and impact to attracting and retaining your talented skilled overseas workforce. #immigration #skillsindemand #australia
