Life is a beach! 🇦🇺🇼🇸🇸🇧🇻🇺🇹🇻🇦🇸 Such an honour and privilege to lead the recent Pacific High Performance Beach Volleyball camp. Grateful to be invited by the Pacific National Federations to put this initiative together. We were fortunate to have been joined by athletes, coaches and support staff from 5 Pacific countries, of which 3 teams were from the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and medallists from the 2023 Pacific Games. The program covered a range of sessions and workshops including beach training, strength & conditioning, player education workshops, recovery and rehab, performance testing, player reviews, team building program and much more across the 12 days. Topics for the player education workshops included Holistic athlete development, wellbeing, nutrition/ hydration, recovery/ rehab, personal development, leadership, Individual performance plans, sleep, mental skills and a range of others. So grateful to the whole team at Gold Coast Performance Centre for their ongoing support to teams from the Pacific. Shout out Jordan and the team from Victor Sports for contributing some much needed equipment and consumables to support the athletes. And a big thank you to the performance support team Sopolemalama Tuitama-Alsop, Dominic Teilo and Manu Maki for their unwavering service towards the athletes. Acknowledgement also to the Presidents of the Volleyball National Federations from Vanuatu, Tuvalu, Solomon Islands and American Samoa for trusting us to deliver the program. Teams are preparing for the upcoming Pacific Mini Games in Palau 2025. It's great to see now interest from more nations in the pacific and other continents including Samoa, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Kenya to name a few are keen to collaborate on the next program. So incredibly proud and humbled by the professionalism, commitment, mindset and hunger to learn displayed by all the athletes. They challenged themselves to put their best forward everyday in all sessions, upholding high standards and behaviours while living out their values and strengths on and off the court. Although from different countries and culture, they embraced and bonded with each other as they all share a common vision and goal for success in their sport and to thrive in life.
