Our 2025 New Barristers’ Conference (for barristers up to six years’ call) was a resounding success in the Neil McPhee Room today. It started with a warm address by the Honourable Chief Justice Richard Niall of the Supreme Court of Victoria in his first public engagement since becoming Victoria’s 13th Chief Justice. His Honour, who signed the Bar Roll in 1995, emphasised the importance of seizing opportunities, constantly learning and observing others, and the value of building solid relationships, inside and outside work.
We are also grateful to the Honourable Justice Jim Delany, the Honourable Associate Justice Catherine Gobbo and Judicial Registrar Claire Gitsham, who presented an insightful final session on what to do (and not to do) when appearing in the Commercial Court, and the many other presenters and panellists in between who volunteered their time to deliver informative and engaging sessions throughout the day.
The 2025 New Barristers’ Conference was proudly supported by legalsuper, Thomson Reuters, Legal Home Loans and LexisNexis and we thank them for their invaluable contribution.
