The St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland provides a 'hand up, not just a hand out' to people in need.
About us
The St Vincent de Paul Society has been helping Queenslanders in need since 1894. Everyday, the Society's 9,937 members and volunteers help those who are struggling to take control of their lives whilst restoring their dignity; providing a hand up, not just a hand out. The Society differs from most charitable organisations in that our members, known as Vincentians, and volunteers are the core of our work. Members and volunteers are supported by some staff; however costs are kept to a minimum, meaning more money goes directly to those who are requiring the Society's assistance. The Society's assistance is only possible by the generosity and compassion of our supporters. Together we can make a difference to many lives. Without our members and volunteers, and without your generous donations, our services and assistance would not be possible. At St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland, our mission has always been to support those who need it most- fighting for fairness, dignity, and equality for all. Today, on World Social Justice Day, we are reminded of the power we have to make a real difference in our communities. Through incredible Members, Volunteers and Programs we stand with individuals facing poverty, injustice, and marginalisation, offering a helping hand when it’s needed most. Let’s continue to work together for a more just, inclusive, and compassionate world. 💙✨

This week, we held a street retreat event in Brisbane City, giving our Members and supporters an eye-opening opportunity to reflect on what it might be like to sleep rough, a reality that impacts many people experiencing homelessness across Queensland. Participants were challenged to buy a meal using only $2, helping to highlight one of the daily struggles faced by those without a home and a reminder of why our work to address homelessness in Queensland is so important 🙌🙌 Some of our CEO Sleepout ambassadors and participants took part in the event, which gave them a deeper understanding of the need for their fundraising efforts for the 2025 Vinnies CEO Sleepout 💙💛 To make a difference today, you can donate or sign up for the 2025 Vinnies CEO Sleepout now: https://lnkd.in/gJqJkzQ
