  • A key mission under the T2030 Strategy is to develop our city as a global destination and grow demand from key markets. In order to do this, #VisitCanberra’s international activities include a range of consumer campaigns, partnership marketing campaigns, trade engagement activities, content partnerships, proactive public relations and media hosting. This year, we delivered partnership marketing campaigns with Fiji Airways and Singapore Airlines, campaigns with 14 key distribution partners promoting packaged itineraries to their clients, trade engagement activities to a collective audience of more than 2,400 travel trade representatives and have hosted 9 trade famils to showcase trade-ready tourism product to these agents. To support this activity, VisitCanberra has also hosted 22 international media visits, featured in a content partnership with Condé Nast and returned to India with our international brand campaign, 'Canberra. A different kind of capital'. Continuing to drive awareness and consideration of Canberra from key markets will remain a focus for 2025. To leverage our plans and for more information on VisitCanberra’s FY24 international marketing, distribution and trade engagement plans, see our calendar of activities here 👉 https://lnkd.in/g6KcayxM ACT Government Tourism Australia #WeAreCBR #Tourism #TourismIndustry

  • In November, #VisitCanberra joined Tourism Australia and all State and Territory tourism organisations at the Signature Travel Network Conference in the United States.   The conference featured a workshop program that included B2B appointments, allowing VisitCanberra to inform advisors about our tourism offerings and the connectivity provided through Fiji Airways.   During the conference, Canberra featured in a segment on the US lifestyle program Good Morning Texas, as part of a broader partnership with Tourism Australia aimed at promoting various destinations across the country. With the launch of a new Fiji Airways route in December connecting Dallas and Canberra (via Nadi), this presented an excellent opportunity to showcase our beautiful city, resulting in over 350,000 targeted impressions in the Greater Dallas Fort Worth area.   To capitalise on this initiative, VisitCanberra also initiated a campaign in partnership with About Australia, encouraging American travellers to utilise Fiji Airways and begin their Aussie vacation in Canberra.   The United States was the ACT’s second-largest inbound market as of June 2024, making it a key target market for VisitCanberra.   ACT Government #WeAreCBR #Tourism #TourismIndustry

Today’s announcement that Qatar Airways will resume international flights out of Canberra (via Melbourne) is great news going into a big five years for #Canberra tourism. It’s a timely boost to our local tourism industry with aviation access being the biggest driver of growth in the sector and it’s great news for Canberrans wanting to travel overseas, particularly to Europe, the United Kingdom and the Middle East. Qatar Airways’ return will benefit the whole Canberra region, providing tourism, trade, investment and a range of business opportunities. It will also make an important contribution towards the Government’s goal of growing our tourism economy to $5 billion in visitor expenditure by 2030. https://lnkd.in/gWET-2kC

  • Two blockbuster exhibitions are on in Canberra this summer! 🖼️ 🌋   Supported by the ACT Government's Major Event Fund (MEF), visitors can head to the National Gallery of Australia and explore the artistic legacies of Ethel Carrick & Anne Dangar, and experience life in ancient Pompeii at the National Museum of Australia.   Ethel Carrick was a pioneering post-impressionist painter whose retrospective offers new insights into her significant artistic contributions. Anne Dangar, a key figure in modern Australian art, lived in France and influenced Australian abstraction while working alongside European cubists. Exhibited simultaneously, this free exhibition is open at the National Gallery of Australia until 27 April 2025.   The immersive Pompeii experience features soundscapes, digital projections, and over 90 artifacts spanning over 2000 years. This exclusive exhibition at the National Museum of Australia runs from 13 December 2024 to 4 May 2025.   The MEF plays a vital role in boosting Canberra's visitor economy by hosting major events like these, promoting tourism and spending in the city, and attracting visitors from across Australia and around the world.   Tourism Australia #WeAreCBR #Canberra #TourismIndustry #Tourism

  • We are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of our dear colleague and friend, Jackie McKeown, who was involved in an accident near her home on the weekend. Our heartfelt condolences go to Jackie’s family.
