We're thrilled to share insights from Amanda Fleming's recent panel discussion at Microsoft Ignite. Viva Energy has undergone a remarkable transformation in recent months. With the acquisition of Coles Express and OTR, we've become the largest convenience and fuel mobility retailer in Australia, with a network of around 1,500 outlets and aiming for 2,000 in the near future. Key challenges for our team included a ten-fold increase in headcount and the massive task of overhauling technology across 670 stores. Lenovo played a crucial role in this journey, providing edge computing solutions that ensured operational resilience and faster transaction processing, even in remote locations. Amanda Fleming highlighted the partnership, saying, "The key to our success has been developing a fundamental shared mindset – we call it 'One Team.' Our shared absolute focus on ensuring we collectively deliver the desired business outcomes has been remarkable." Our partnership with Lenovo exemplifies the "One Team" mindset, delivering value through collaboration and innovation. This transformation has set global benchmarks, and we're proud to lead the way in retail technology. We were thrilled to present at the recent Victorian Transport Association - VTA Alternative Fuels Summit. It was great to showcase our advancements in sustainable energy solutions and how partnerships are important to us in industry's journey to net zero emissions. “This is about establishing an environment where each party accepts the early market risks in order to move forward. Our learnings have been that under a 3PL model, the key to making this work is having the infrastructure provider, hired carrier, and the end-customer all at the table to unlock the green solution. It’s tough to make this work if there is only one party pushing a decarbonisation initiative either up, or down the value chain,” said Rhys Moore, Viva Energy Australia’s Commercial Lead for the Hydrogen Project. Rhys provided an in-depth update on the hydrogen project currently under construction in Geelong, highlighting Viva Energy's significant progress in helping hard-to-transition industries to decarbonise, and the important role that partnerships play. We also shared insights from our renewable diesel trial with Cleanaway Waste Management, represented by their Head of Carbon, Taku Ide, and hosted by Viva Energy’s Carbon Solutions Manager, Robert Cavicchiolo. The results have been promising, demonstrating the potential of renewable diesel to reduce emissions and provide a viable alternative to traditional fuels and no changes to existing assets. “It’s through collaboration, such as this trial with Cleanaway, and dialogue that we drive progress in our decarbonisation journey,” said Robert. A big thank you to everyone who attended and engaged with us. Together, we are driving the future of alternative fuels! #AlternativeFuels #Hydrogen #RenewableDiesel

Viva Energy Australia was pleased to speak at the International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC) late last month. The event was a fantastic opportunity to connect with industry leaders, share insights, and collaborate on sustainable solutions for a greener future. Our team attended to discuss the critical topic of decarbonisation where our Carbon Solutions Manager, Robert Cavicchiolo, presented innovative strategies to reduce the carbon footprint in the mining industry such as the use of Renewable Diesel. “Viva Energy sees Renewable Diesel as a drop-in alternative without the need for modification to our customers assets, equipment or storage, and dispensing facilities making it an ideal lower emission fuel while zero emission technology becomes more widely available,” said Robert. We look forward to continuing to be part of engaging discussions and networking with fellow professionals who are passionate about making a positive impact. Let’s drive change together! #IMARC2024 #Decarbonisation #Sustainability #MiningInnovation

“Viva Energy Australia’s acquisitions of Coles Express -- now Reddy Express -- and OTR is all about bringing together the best onsite convenience experience for customers – and EV charging is a key part of that. It is clear to us that the success of public EV charging needs to be supported by strong onsite convenience offer so our customers can get something to eat or drink while their car is charging.” - Sandra Lau, Viva Energy’s Head of Hydrogen & EVs. Sandra Lau delivered an insightful presentation earlier this week at the MOBILITY LIVE Australia conference about how innovations in retail and convenience are paving the way for a true omnichannel customer experience. From seamless charging solutions to integrated retail services, Viva Energy’s cofunded agreement with the NSW Government for the development of a network of 30 EV charging stations across our Shell branded network in NSW will aim to deliver the best onsite, high speed, EV charging for our NSW customers from next year. Thank you to Mobility Live for hosting fantastic event! #SustainableEnergy #EVcharging

Here it comes…the electrolyser that will generate the green hydrogen needed to provide zero emission fuel to heavy vehicles such as road freight, public transport, municipal waste management, water treatment and general fleet! 💚 Hydrogen, generated from renewable energy and recycled water, will reduce the carbon footprint of these heavy vehicles that Australians rely on every day. The Viva Energy Hub will have the capability to dispense renewable hydrogen in commercial quantities and is expected to commence operations in early 2025. It will also offer electric vehicle recharging alongside green hydrogen fuelling, bringing together the zero emission technologies that will support Australia’s energy transition. 🎥 Watch the construction of our new storage tanks in action! Earlier this month, we officially commissioned three new tanks to store diesel at the Viva Energy Hub, adding a whopping 90ML of additional storage to bolster Australia’s fuel security. During Australia’s energy transition, it’s critical that the energy and infrastructure necessary to keep the economy operating safely, affordably, and securely is provided, while new energies and technologies advance and become more affordable. Our new tanks were built by Geelong company Brockman Engineering, using 600 tonnes of plate steel supplied by Australia’s BlueScope Steel. The project also involved 4km of connecting pipework within the Geelong refinery to deliver diesel to the tanks and transmit the fuel to Melbourne via existing pipelines. At the peak of construction, a maximum of 140 people worked on the project, showcasing the incredible teamwork and dedication of everyone involved. 👷♂️👷♀️ We are proud to contribute to Australia’s energy security and support the essential services that keep our country running smoothly. #VivaEnergy #FuelSecurity #EnergyTransition #Diesel

Last week, Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles officially commissioned our new strategic fuel storage facility at the Viva Energy Hub in Geelong. This milestone is part of the Federal Government’s Boosting Australia’s Diesel Storage Program and is crucial for safeguarding Australia’s energy security and protecting our vital supply chains. Diesel fuel is essential for many sectors, including agriculture, mining, road transport, emergency management, and defence. It also serves as a backup fuel for critical services like hospitals, water, and sanitation. Viva Energy Australia CEO, Scott Wyatt, said the commissioning of these tanks marks another important step in Viva Energy’s strategy to transform traditional refining operations into a modern energy hub. “We have manufactured fuel in Australia for over 70 years here at Geelong, and this storage facility will help further strengthen our supply chains and ensure that customers have reliable access to fuels that they depend on,” he said. “Over the longer term, we have aspirations to produce lower carbon and renewable fuels, and play a leading role in driving down emissions in the fuels that we use. Production of these new fuels will also greatly benefit from these new facilities.” Thank you to everyone involved in making this project a success! 🌟 #VivaEnergy #EnergySecurity #FuelStorage #Geelong
