Yesterday, the 2024 Volunteering Awards brought together volunteers, families, friends and supporters to acknowledge and celebrate the indispensable contributions that volunteers have made to the Canberra community. As Volunteering ACT CEO, Jean Giese, highlighted, the cost of replacing volunteer labour is estimated to be $3.3 billion. That number again – $3.3 billion – which is the cost that organisations and the public sector would incur without the help of volunteers. At Synergy Group, we engage with charitable organisations and encourage our Synergites to volunteer regularly, helping to provide crucial services to those in need in our community. Synergy Law Senior Associate Masothy Yin attended the 2024 Volunteering Awards on our behalf and had this to say: "Sitting in the audience hearing Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC Governor-General’s personal story as a volunteer and Ms Giese’s opening address, I reflected upon my journey as a volunteer, which started at school, then University, community legal centres and other charitable organisations. Volunteering has not only enriched my personal life, but has also given me the opportunity to expand my professional skills, knowledge and experience. Our life circumstances may not allow us to volunteer as much as we would like to, and I am fortunate to be able to combine my passion for volunteering with my daily job at Synergy Law by providing pro bono legal work. " If you are thinking of volunteering, we would encourage you to reach out to community organisations in your area. Our community always need one more volunteer. #SynergyGroup #Volunteering #2024VolunteeringAward
