WALGA's 2025 State Election Priorities calls for funding to address gaps in the Long-Term Cycle Network (LTCN) to make it feasible and easier to travel by active modes. An article by WAtoday on Monday highlighted that at the current rate of spending on active travel, it will be at least 50 years and potentially more than 100 or more before the Perth-Peel part of the WA LTCN is complete. To accelerate progress in filling gaps in the LTCN, new funding is needed to realise its full potential. An initial investment of $20 million per year over four years should be allocated to initiate this program. Learn more: https://ow.ly/Xiwl50V6EJ3

“The City of Rockingham knows how important inclusive parks and play spaces are in providing opportunities for people with disability to participate in our community." The City of Rockingham's all-abilities playground at Harbour Park experiences ongoing popularity and sustained usage, highlighting the lasting benefits of inclusive play spaces for people with disability, their families and carers. “Whenever we upgrade our parks and play spaces we look at how to improve accessibility, from the layout of the paths to the design of the play equipment, water fountains and seating options, and the introduction of communication boards to assist non-verbal users," said City of Rockingham Mayor Deb Hamblin.
