Warrnambool won silver at the Victorian Top Tourism Town Awards last night. The city was narrowly beaten by Bendigo as Victoria’s Top Tourism Town for 2024, but Warrnambool finished ahead of fellow finalists Ballarat, Mildura, Echuca, Shepparton and Werribee. Congratulations to nearby Timboon who won gold in the Top Tiny Tourism Town category (population under 1500) as well as Koroit who was a finalist in the Top Small Tourism Town category (population under 5000). Here a members of our Visitor Economy Team Ash Price, Susanne Kinna, Jillian Bushell and Paul Thompson.

One for the event organisers! We're making it easier to host a wider range of events at the Civic Green thanks to a $100,000 grant via the Victorian Government's Council Support Package. The funding will cover: - Additional lighting for evening events - Upgraded power supply on the stage and additional power access points around the Green - A water supply - A storage area for Civic Green equipment These changes will make it easier for events to run on the Civic Green and reduce event costs for organisers. Member for Western Victoria Jacinta Ermacora MP visited the Civic Green today, and she is pictured alongside our CEO Andrew Mason, Service Manager Events and Promotions Lauren Edney (ACEcD) and Director City Growth Luke Coughlan.

As amazing as the new Warrnambool Library is, not everyone in our community is able to visit in person. That's where Jan, and her van, come in! Jan is a valued member of our home library team, a free service that sees books delivered to people across Warrnambool. This week is National Volunteer Week - a time to reflect on the important role volunteers have their communities, and to thank them for all that they do. You can find out more about volunteering opportunities available at https://lnkd.in/g423C-2m #NVW2024
