Ever wondered what it takes to protect your home from water ingress below the ground? It’s not a same shoe fits all, but here is a recent example of a solution for a home with a leaking wall below ground. At a recent project in the Upper North Shore of Sydney, our team tackled subterranean brickworks with precision and care. We excavated along the side of the house using our digger, and transported soil on conveyor belts to the loading area before loading it onto our tipper truck. We then applied Fosroc Nitoproof 210 - a robust, single-component bituminous membrane - to ensure durable waterproofing. Following this, we will be installing a comprehensive subsoil drainage system, including ag lines for effective water flow management, drainage cells and geotextile fabric for added protection, and a backfill of crushed drainage aggregate topped with high-quality topsoil for a complete finish. Every step is designed to secure the property against water ingress while maintaining structural integrity. Have a tricky subterranean waterproofing challenge? Share your story in the comments!

Are you planning to transform your garage into a liveable area like a rumpus room or a granny flat? Before you lay flooring on the existing concrete slab, it’s crucial to think about potential moisture issues. Here’s the thing: it’s not always easy to tell if the moisture barrier beneath the concrete slab is still intact—or if there even is one. And many of our clients have shared the same story over the years. When an untreated concrete slab is exposed, any dampness rising from the ground can freely evaporate. However, after laying flooring, that moisture gets trapped between the slab and the underside of the floor covering. With nowhere to go, it slowly builds up, finding its way through cracks or weak spots—creating mould, dampness, and damage over time. Before installing any flooring, the Waterstop Solutions team recommends: ✔️ Sealing cracks in the concrete slab. ✔️ Applying a high-quality moisture barrier system. These steps can help protect your flooring and contribute to keeping your new space comfortable and safe for years to come. Have questions or looking for professional advice? Reach out—we’d love to help!
