We recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Senior Associate Tas Tzoulis to reflect on his impressive 16-year journey at Watson Young Architects. During our conversation, we reminisced about his first day, explored his career progression, and highlighted one of his most memorable projects.

We are excited to announce the successful completion of Charter Hall’s CoreWest Logistics Hub in Truganina, Victoria. Spanning an impressive 18,686 sqm, this state-of-the-art facility incorporates a spacious warehouse along with a dock office and a main office facing National Drive. The facility is designed to achieve a 5-Star Green Star As Built rating, underscoring its commitment to sustainability. From the early stages, Watson Young Architects worked closely with Charter Hall to develop the concept design resulting in the town planning application for the project. Watson Young were also responsible for delivering the design development and construction documentation, in collaboration with Texco Construction, guiding the project through construction. The development adheres to Charter Hall’s distinct industrial branding guidelines, featuring Charter Hall Blue stripes across the main warehouse, with key corners accentuated in Colorbond Monument. The two-story Main Office represents simple geometry with a striking blend of aluminium cladding, glazing, and timber-look cladding. A feature canopy wraps the northern façade of the office, framing a view to create a clear sense of entry to the facility. This project reflects both excellence in design and sustainability, making it a significant addition to the CoreWest Logistics Hub.

Emmanuel College’s latest Science and Technology Department renovation features a variety of our Palettone range. 💚 The consideration for these finishes, coupled with contemporary details, delivers an engaging modern aesthetic to each room. The three thoughtfully designed spaces with different colour schemes enhance the learning environment for students. Love getting out to see finished buildings! The Bessemer Business Park has come a long way since our first visit to the site in Jan '23. It was a real team effort at Watson Young Architects with Sebastian Cardenas, Brooke Hayes and others delivering the documentation. Thanks also to ISPT for getting us involved and Texco Construction for doing such a great job on the build!

Maverick Mordialloc stands as a distinctive Industrial Business Park, strategically situated on a high-visibility site directly across from Moorabbin Airport. The development offers an array of industrial warehouses in varied sizes, including four showroom-style units. Each warehouse is thoughtfully designed with dedicated parking and incorporates sustainability measures such as solar power, bicycle parking, rainwater harvesting, and infrastructure for three electric vehicle charging bays. The site is masterfully planned to maximise the building footprint, optimising floor space across 25 warehouses, all featuring integrated mezzanines. The facades present a minimalist yet sophisticated architectural language, unified by the use of feature face brick, a reference to the site's historical context. This approach not only pays tribute to the previous buildings but also complements the tonal black and grey rendered walls, enhanced by extensive glazing that floods the interiors with natural light.
