🔥 Ensuring our 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐟𝐟 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝 to use fire extinguishers and hoses is vital in our sawmill! Knowledge and preparedness can save lives and protect our equipment. We’ve taken the time to train 180 employees in recent weeks to do just that. Pictured are Barrie and David 𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞, and Russell and Jose 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐚 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐫. About us
Quality Products. Reliable Supply. Wespine Industries is jointly owned by Wesfarmers Limited and Fletcher Building Limited. We are a softwood sawmiller, specialising in the production of Pinus radiata, a premium quality plantation timber. Our product range includes dressed, stress graded and preservative treated timber suitable for construction, renovations, landscaping, pallets and packaging, and furniture manufacturing. The Wespine sawmill has operated since 1985. In 1991/92, we signed an agreement with the Government of Western Australia to purchase sawlogs produced by state owned and private pine plantations, over a forty year period. Under the agreement, we committed to construct and operate a sawmill that would make full use of the economies of scale provided by the deal, producing timber for sale throughout Australia and the countries of the Pacific Rim. Our sawmill’s capacity is approximately 200,000 m3 output per year. Whether you're a DIY builder or a major wholesaler, Wespine will be happy to answer any questions you might have about our products. To buy our products, we have a range of distributors available.

🌲 🔥 October is here, and that means bushfire season has officially begun in SW WA! At Wespine, we’ve acted to protect forestry assets around our sawmill with innovative strategies. 👨🚒 We’ve implemented fire access tracks every 15 metres throughout our plantation. Harvests have been undertaken with high utilisation techniques, removing nearly all flammable material. ⛔ The remaining needle fuels are systematically reduced by prescribed burning, which does not harm the maturing trees. Plus, we’ve installed bare earth fire breaks around the perimeter to further enhance safety. We’re committed to safeguarding our forests #Wespine #BushfirePreparedness #SustainableForestry #FireSafety

🎉 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝟑𝟎 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞! 🎉 Lac, our dedicated Timber Processor, celebrated a key milestone earlier this year, reaching 30 years of service at Wespine. Lac’s an 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥 and his commitment to Wespine over the past three decades is a testament to the strong sense of community and teamwork here. When asked why he’s stayed with us for so long, Lac shared, “𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐥𝐲, 𝐰𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫.” He also highlighted that being close to home has allowed him to spend more time with his family - another key reason for his loyalty. One of Lac’s proudest achievements is 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬, some who have advanced into leadership roles. To the younger generation at Wespine, Lac has this advice: “𝐘𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐮𝐩. 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐬 Wespine came together on Wednesday to farewell our much-loved and respected Managing Director, Patrick Warrand (pictured left). Over a BBQ hot dog, we remembered the 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 as Patrick led Wespine and Staxa over the past 7 years. Charlie Perkins (pictured right), has commenced as Managing Director and 𝐰𝐞'𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 about what lies ahead under his capable leadership. #wespine #staxa #communityatwork #dardanupwa #bunburybusiness

When timber is harvested for use in buildings or other products, the carbon captured by the tree is 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐝 - even if that timber is eventually recycled for another use. #forestandwoodproductsaustralia #wespine #staxa #timberframing #theultimaterenewable

𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 #4 – Pens! Using his extensive knowledge of pine as well as well as his skill on the lathe, Geoff Boughton has created these 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬. Geoff commented, “𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞, and care in the preparation of the pen blanks always makes for a better pen. The 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐬 (that are normally part of the kiln area in the mill) are given off when I turn the forced air-dried timber.” Each pen represents the story of the pine from which the pen is made. 𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧! Last week, our team came together to 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐮𝐬 𝐖𝐄𝐒𝐏𝐈𝐍𝐄. It was great to look back and share some of the interesting, remarkable and enjoyable experiences of the last 32 years of Wespine's history. We also considered what makes us a great business to work for today: 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐰𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫, the way we treat others, and 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥.
