Last week, we welcomed Shire of Cue leaders, including CEO Richard Towell and Deputy President Elizabeth Houghton, to our Great Fingall site. Led by our Environmental Manager, Dean, and Cue GM, Simon, the visit went beyond machinery—diving into how we operate, engage with the community, and collaborate for regional benefits. With plenty of productive discussions (and a few fun gold mining facts thrown in for good measure), the visit was a fantastic opportunity to strengthen ties with our local government. We appreciate the Council taking the time to visit, and we look forward to continuing open and transparent engagement with our local stakeholders.

Our Managing Director and CEO, Wayne Bramwell, took the stage at the RIU Explorers Conference today, to share Westgold's vision for 2025. From our $1.4B merger with Karora Resources to expanding key underground mines and investing in critical infrastructure, Wayne highlighted how we’re building momentum and positioning Westgold for long-term success. With multiple drill rigs turning across our portfolio, we’re focused on extending mine life and uncovering the next generation of opportunities. A big thank you to RIU for hosting another great event, bringing together industry leaders to discuss the future of exploration and mining.

Westgold’s Cue operations, including the Big Bell and Great Fingall mines, are part of a long history in one of Western Australia’s most iconic goldfields. But the story of Cue begins long before its name was officially recorded—starting with an Aboriginal prospector named Governor. Around the 1890s, Governor discovered a ten-ounce gold nugget at Cuddingwarra, about 14km west of present-day Cue. Encouraged by this find, Michael Fitzgerald, traveling with two Aboriginal companions, continued prospecting and uncovered more gold. Tom Cue, Fitzgerald’s partner, took the 80km journey to Nannine to register the claim, which likely led to the town being named after him. Yet, despite his role in history, he stayed out of the spotlight, leaving behind little record of his life and adding to the mystery surrounding his legacy. Thought to have been born in Ireland, sometime between 1849 and 1855, Tom Cue traveled to Victoria at a young age, where his family settled in Casterton. By the early 1890s, Tom had made his way to Western Australia, where he showed signs of success. Despite his wealth and influence, little is known about his life, and no photographs or clear records exist. Tom’s full story may never be known, but his legacy lives on through his role in the development of one of Australia’s most prolific goldfields. With ongoing exploration projects and steady production levels, Westgold is proud to continue advancing the region’s mining legacy! 📸 : There are no known photographs of Tom Cue, however In 1991 a couple were looking for gold near Cue and found a metal printer’s plate depicting Tom Cue.

The first half of FY25 was all about growth, investment, and consolidation. Revenue surged 72% to $624M, driven by strong gold production and achieved gold price. Following our merger with Karora and inclusion in the ASX 200, we focused on laying the groundwork for long-term success. While this period was about building the foundations, the next half is where we expect to see production growth and stronger cash generation. 👉 Read more https://lnkd.in/g_j8wh6e.
