Since 2005, we've witnessed the growth of over 500 young Indigenous children from regional and remote communities around Australia become alumni, and evolve into the young leaders they are today. Given the right support through a quality education, these Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children are creating generational change in this country. Their journeys are a powerful reminder of what’s possible when we provide equitable opportunities, and invest in our future leaders.

Educating & Empowering Indigenous children
About us
Yalari is a not-for-profit organisation that offers quality secondary education scholarships at Australia's leading boarding schools for Indigenous children from regional, rural and remote communities. Our Vision is to provide trusted, quality educational opportunities for Indigenous children so they can achieve positive outcomes for themselves and their families and to make a valuable contribution as Australians. Our Mission is to educate and empower Indigenous children from regional, rural and remote communities to bring about generational change. We do this by giving Indigenous children the opportunity for a first class education through full boarding scholarships at some of the highest achieving boarding schools in Australia. Yalari, from the Birri Gubba Indigenous language group means “child”. It is the name Waverley Stanley, as the Founding Director, has been given permission to use by Grandfather “Blokey” Wilson.

Earlier this year, at our 19th Orientation Camp, we presented the inaugural Jimbelungare Awards, a special recognition created in honor of our 20-year anniversary 🏆 'Jimbelungare' means "friendship" in the Yugambeh language, and honours those who have shown vision and generous support throughout Yalari’s history. We were proud to present the first awards to Paul and Judy Williams, the Saywell Foundation, and the Newsboys Foundation. Thank you for being an essential part of our story!

A huge congratulations to Year 10 Yalari student, Arnido, for receiving his fifth consecutive Dean’s List award at The Southport School 🏅 This award is presented to students who achieve five A’s or higher in their subjects, and Arnido has now earned this honour five times! With his father, James, there to support him at the school assembly, it was a proud moment for the whole Yalari community. If Arnido keeps up this outstanding effort, he’ll be on track to receive the Scholar’s Tie award 👏
