On behalf of our team and the animals currently living their best lives in their new homes, we would like to extend a huge Thank You to all of those involved who played a part including our staff, volunteers, foster carers, supporters and of course those who #ChoseToAdopt their new family member from Animal Welfare League Qld. A special thanks also goes to our wonderful friends at Breeders Choice, Yarn Corporate and The Facial Bar who supported our Valentine's adoptions with some incredible gifts to help everyone settle into their new lives together, your support made such a difference in sharing the love.

To celebrate a wonderful year of support, the team from Yarn Corporate paid us a visit to wish the animals in a our care a Merry Christmas and wish them the best of luck in finding their forever homes before Christmas. Yarn has been donating a proceeds of sales from their dog range of products to Animal Welfare League Queensland since the launch of their pet range and we are so grateful to continue being the recipient of this generous support including the opportunity for our dogs and puppies being able to wear some of their beautifully designed products while they wait for their new families. Being the animal lovers that they are, the team also paid a visit to cat rehoming to meet some of the fabulous felines who loved playing with the Yarn bandanas just as much as our dogs loved wearing them! If you would like to be a part of this wonderful initiative in supporting AWLQ whilst getting a special gift for your own furry family member visit the Yarn website: https://lnkd.in/ePwE4dDX

  • How pawesome is this! Our amazing community partners Animal Welfare League Qld, and their adorable furbassadors stole the show in their stunning Yarn Forever Homes dog collection pieces. Did you know - $2 from every sale in this collection helps provide a safe and loving shelter for the precious animals AWLQ cares for while they await their forever homes? 🏡💖 We love seeing this collection out in the community - especially on the very animals your support helps! Thank you for making a difference, one wagging tail at a time. 🐶

Fundraising and Community Engagement Manager @ AWLQ | It's all about the paws | Hopefully making a difference

Last week Animal Welfare League Qld saw our community engagement go up a whole new level when we received a very special invitation from Live Nation Entertainment to pay a visit backstage at the Gold Coast show of Pearl Jam’s Dark Matter Tour - and of course we said ‘Hell yes!” Accompanied by some carefully selected furbassadors and some very excited team members, we spent a couple of hours sharing some doggo cuddles and comparing pet stories with the crew of Pearl Jam and bass guitarist Jeff Ament who took a particular liking to our 10 week old puppy, Pippy and proudly showed off photos of his own dogs back home. Aside from all of the backstage excitement of such an incredible show, this experience was a great reminder on how the love of animals can bring people from all walks of life together, even if they do come from one of the biggest bands in the world 🤘 A huge thank you to the amazing team at Eventco for being such amazing hosts and to Yarn Corporate for making sure all of our pawsome dog ambassadors were all dressed up for the occasion 🙏 It was a night we will all remember! #CommunityEngagement #PearlJam #RockOn

  • At the end of Pink Month, we’re proud to announce our current fundraising amount for the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) is $13,934! Don’t forget to keep sharing the message of awareness: check your breasts regularly and attend your breast screenings if you’re eligible.  Read more about breast screens in Australia here:  https://lnkd.in/dWxfnMiz Although October is nearing the end, our efforts aren’t. We’re still working towards reaching our goal of $20,000! Your support for the Boobie Sista and Tribe of Women collections in collaboration with the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) donates $2 for each custom item sold.

  • This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we sat down with BreastScreen Queensland Sunshine Coast Health Promotion Officers Kelly Hart and Gillian Duffy to chat about the importance of breast screening. BreastScreen Queensland Sunshine Coast (BSQSC) are raising awareness to close the gap in breast screening rates to encourage more Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women to attend their breast screening. Their Sista Shawl project uses beautiful Yarn scarves with artwork by local Sunshine Coast artist, Aboriginal Darug woman of the Cabrogal Clan, Mandy Draper. Funded by Wishlist (Sunshine Coast Health Foundation), the artwork “A Woman’s Connection” has been chosen to start conversations in the community about the importance of women’s health and breast screening. Learn more about the Sista Shawl project here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gTjUbZ7T Breast Screen Australia website ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gUPnGeGk Swipe to learn key facts that will empower you to feel comfortable with the screening process and, ultimately, reduce the impact of breast cancer and save lives. #BreastCancerAwareness #BreastScreening #IndigenousHealth #AboriginalHealth #WomensHealth

  • Who can wear First Nations artwork? The most frequent question we get asked at Yarn is “who can purchase and wear Yarn products?” Working with First Nations artwork, we’re regularly asked if it’s appropriate for non-Indigenous people to wear Indigenous artwork. So who can wear Yarn products? Let’s get into it… The short answer is EVERYONE can wear Yarn Corp! All our products are ally-friendly - as long as you’re being respectful and supportive. Each artist working with Yarn Corp has given permission for anyone to wear and showcase their art. It’s important to note that this is unique to our catalogue, and does not represent all Indigenous art, some of which is only for Community. We encourage everyone to learn the story behind each purchase: we want people to learn about the artist, their story, and the story behind each artwork. We also encourage people to keep learning about First Nations Culture and to open conversations around it. Reconciliation is everyone’s business and we believe art can be a powerful tool to bring people together. All our products are designed to be worn and showcased with pride. It’s a fun and powerful way to show the beauty and uniqueness of the oldest Culture in the world, no matter your cultural background. Be part of important conversations that help to keep First Nations Cultures alive. #FirstNationsArt #IndigenousCulture #SupportIndigenousArtists #CulturalUnderstanding #AlliesInAction #WearWithPride #YarnCorp
