Youth Leadership Academy Australia (YLAA) is a dynamic, youth-led not-for-profit organization dedicated to empowering young Australians to lead themselves, their schools, and their communities towards a brighter future. We provide students from Year 5 to Year 12 with the tools and opportunities they need to develop critical leadership skills through our innovative programs and events. 🚀 At YLAA, we believe in the power of youth to drive change and inspire their peers. Our programs are designed to cultivate essential soft skills, such as critical thinking, resilience, and communication, which are vital for future leaders.   • YOUTH LEADERSHIP ACADEMY AUSTRALIA LAUNCHES ALBANY CHANGEMAKERS INITIATIVE 🚀 Youth Leadership Academy Australia is excited to receive funding from Department of Communities WA to deliver the Albany project. Earlier this month we met with the WA Minister for Youth Hannah Beazley MLA and the member for Albany Rebecca Stephens MLA to make this announcement. In 2025 we will be delivering this incredible project for young people from across the Great Southern. We will be hosting the inaugural Albany Changemakers Summit 👏 Bringing together schools and young people from across the region to develop personal and professional skills. We will brainstorm solutions and take them through YLAA’s famous creating change framework. After the event ⏩ the young people will work with their schools to develop these ideas into real projects for the region. In term 4 we will come back together for a showcase event where schools will share the success that their project have had 📣. Youth Leadership Academy Australia is proud to be working alongside a state government incredibly committed to ensuring young people are supported in their leadership journey.

    ANNOUNCING THE ALBANY CHANGE MAKERS INITIATIVE 🚀 Last week I met with the WA Minister for Youth Hannah Beazley MLA and the Member for Albany Rebecca Stephens MLA to launch our next regional project. In 2025 we will be delivering this incredible project for young people from across the Great Southern. My passion for regional young people has never been stronger and thanks to the Department of Communities WA and the Minister’s WA Youth Engagement Grants - we are able to increase opportunities to ensure that regional young people are supported in creating change.

  • Announcing our LeaderUp Challenge 2025! 🚀 At YLAA, we’re committed to creating long-term, sustainable change—and that’s exactly what the LeaderUp Challenge is all about. It’s an opportunity for Year 5–12 student leaders to develop real projects that address meaningful needs in their schools and communities. With the support of their peers, students will work over 10 weeks to design, plan, and implement a leadership project, building critical skills and making a lasting impact. One school will receive a $2,000 grant to bring their vision to life. Key Details: 🚀 Students collaborate and develop a project over 10 weeks in Term 2. 🚀 Builds leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. How to get involved 🧐 Registration for our Primary and Secondary Leadership Conferences in Term 1 is now open. Participation in LeaderUp begins with attending one of these events.   • WA YOUTH ACTION PLAN LAUNCH 🚀 The YLAA team in Perth joined the Department of Communities WA celebrate the launch of the WA Youth Action Plan 2024-2027 this week. This action plan is designed with the vision that to ALL 517,557 young people that live in WA to feel valued and included, supported to achieve their goals, empowered to shape the world they live in, and lead meaningful and fulfilling lives. Youth Leadership Academy Australia was privileged to play a role in the consultation process earlier this year with the team. 🚀 YLAA facilitated & designed a SOLD OUT 18-25 Networking Event in the City. 🚀 YLAA facilitated 4 of the “Building Tomorrow: Have Your Say” Workshops through the Kimberley. 🚀 YLAA designed an online campaign to increase digital responses for the 18-25 year old catogory - which received over 250 reaponses. YLAA feels incredibly privileged to continued to be trusted by government agencies to amplify youth voice in a truly meaningful way and lead co design as a co beneficial process.
