BANNER LOCATION SPOTLIGHT 🌟 Cockburn is home to the Beeliar Noongar people or River People of Whadjuk Noongar Boodja (Country). Named after the lush and bountiful wetlands that cover the area, they lived alongside these wetlands/lakes - which are also tied to the Waugal (Rainbow Serpent - Creation Spirit) journey through creating Noongar Boodja. There are sixteen identified Aboriginal campsites in Cockburn primarily found along the banks of Coolbellup (North Lake) and Walliabup (Bibra Lake). These camps were connected through various bidi (paths) that connected the Murray and Swan Noongar groups providing pathways for trade and important ceremonies. By sponsoring a banner in Cockburn you can elevate and amplify the continued traditional connections to this very important area on Whadjuk Noongar Boodja and encourage your community to learn more about the First Nations history of sites, and deepen your understanding and commitment to truth-telling of our shared histories! 4 weeks to go! In these times, it's more important than ever to find initiatives that unite us. Are you ready to see the skies of Western Australia filled with powerful messages? Over 300 banners will soar across the state, and we're thrilled to offer this unique opportunity to individuals, families, businesses, and community organisations. During National Reconciliation Week, from 27 May to 3 June 2025, banners featuring stunning artwork by Noongar artist Darryl Dempster will proudly fly. Why should you be a part of this? - Celebrate and share: Your commitment to reconciliation personally and meaningfully. - Join the movement: Fill Western Australia with unity, hope, and reconciliation messages. - Create a united future for future generations: let's build a more inclusive tomorrow. You can sponsor a banner for as little as $550 and visually demonstrate your commitment to reconciliation. PLUS, after NRW, you can collect your banner and repurpose it. Whether as a vibrant tablecloth or a striking events backdrop, your team can admire the gorgeous artwork up close and feel connected to the reconciliation movement. Don't miss this unique chance to make a statement and inspire change! Learn more and secure your sponsorship today through the link in our bio.

Yonga is the proud partner with Rec WA providing the Banners for the National Reconciliation Week Street Banner Project - in partnership with our strategic partner Allflags. Danny Ford OAM Jolene Culbong Jonathan Ford Dawn France FGIA, MAHRI B.A (Hons) Law and Business Reconciliation WA
Meet our first individual street banner sponsor and ally, Wayne! 2025 is the first year we’ve opened our National Reconciliation Week Street Banner Program to individuals and families. Feeling driven by his family and experiences in childhood, Wayne wanted his solidarity to soar. Growing up in the Pilbara in the 1960s he experienced first hand the difference in treatment that his Aboriginal class mates experienced due to racism. Like many of us when the Voice wasn’t successful Wayne felt disheartened, receiving upset calls from both of his daughters shocked at how something so simple and “needed” wasn’t able to get over the line. From Wayne's own words “I want my grandchildren to know their pop believes in reconciliation and we are all planning to go see the banner when it is displayed.” Thank you, Wayne, for letting us share your story. We hope this story has inspired you. Sponsoring a banner can be more than just a symbolic action, it can be an action of legacy and of change. You can sponsor a banner here: https://lnkd.in/gbFvG86S Wayne is pictured here with Michelle our Street Banner Project Coordinator.
