🌟 Exciting Day at Brisbane State High School! 🌟 This afternoon, representatives from Young Metallurgists had the opportunity to visit Brisbane State High School, where we engaged with enthusiastic year 10 students who were eager to learn about the world of #mineralresources and #metallurgy. We shared insights into our field, showcased innovative projects, and highlighted the importance of materials science in shaping the future. We passed out Minerals Council of Australia “30 Things” books, explained metallurgy concepts using Minecraft, and presented physical examples from the copper metallurgical process—from stockpile ore to flotation feed, concentrate, anode and cathode copper, and even copper in electronics and recycled black copper. A huge thank you to the teachers and students for their warm welcome and active participation. We’re looking forward to future collaborations and inspiring even more young minds! #YoungMetallurgists #FutureEngineers #STEMEducation #Metallurgy #BrisbaneStateHighSchool #MineralResources

Promoting metallurgical education and role of metallurgy in the world.
About us
Welcome to Young Metallurgists, a dynamic student-led initiative dedicated to promoting the field of metallurgy and supporting the next generation of metallurgical engineers. Founded in 2022 by a group of passionate students, YM aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world industry experience. 🚀 Our Mission: At Young Metallurgists, we strive to increase awareness of metallurgy’s crucial role in addressing global challenges such as sustainable energy, global warming, decarbonisation, and ore reserves/metal supplies. We are committed to inspiring more students to pursue careers in metallurgy and to providing current students with opportunities to enhance their university education through industry collaboration. 🏆 Our Achievements: With the support of industry leaders like Glencore and Pyrosearch UQ, YM has grown from a small Facebook page to a thriving community of 116 members and 366 LinkedIn followers. Our notable events include: ⭐️ Student trips to MetFest (2022-23) ⭐️ Visits to Glencore’s Mt Isa processing facilities ⭐️ Office visits to Glencore Technology and Sedgman ⭐️ Biannual networking BBQs at UQ (2022-24) ⭐️ Volunteering at UQ Open Day (2023-24) ⭐️ Volunteering at MOLTEN2024 AusIMM conference ⭐️ Presentations at Chemical Engineering lectures from 2024 🌏Join Us: We invite industry organisations to partner with us in promoting metallurgy to the next generation. By sponsoring Young Metallurgists, you can help drive interest in this vital field, support student development, and gain visibility within the metallurgy community. Together, we can inspire future metallurgical engineers and contribute to solving some of the world’s most pressing challenges. 🤝 If you are interested in collaborating with us as a company or have any questions, please contact President@youngmets.com!
