YWCA Hunter Region Inc. is part of a national and international movement which promotes women’s leadership and gender equity by leading social and economic change through empowerment and leadership development to find local solutions to global gender inequalities in 125 countries. Across the world the YWCA advocates for peace, justice, human rights and care of the environment and has been at the forefront of raising the status of women for over 150 years. Y-Hunter has been supporting and working with women in the Newcastle region since 1921 and exists today to support, empower and connect women and families for a stronger community.

New Executive Director Appointed to YWCA Hunter Region The YWCA Hunter Region is pleased to announce the appointment of Carolyn (Caz) O'Brien as its new Executive Director. Bringing a wealth of experience in suicide prevention and purpose-driven organisations, Caz O'Brien joins the YWCA Hunter Region with a strong background in designing and executing strategies aligned with community needs. Caz O'Brien possesses exceptional leadership skills and a proven ability to foster strategic partnerships that positively impact the community. Her dedication to advocacy and empowering individuals closely aligns with the values and mission of the YWCA Hunter Region. "We are delighted to introduce Caz O'Brien as our new Executive Director," said Andrea Fernandes, Acting President of the YWCA Hunter Region. "Her solid experience in building collaborative relationships and her deep understanding of community needs make her a fantastic leader to steer our organisation forward and support outcomes for women and families." Caz O'Brien expressed her enthusiasm for her new role, stating, "I am honored to join the YWCA Hunter Region and uphold the organisation's legacy of supporting, empowering and connecting women and families across the region.
