The Role

Reporting to the CFO, the Commercial Finance Manager will provide high-quality financial support and analysis to drive business outcomes, shaping commercial strategy and improving sales and profit across functions.

You will drive the commercial strategy into action and transformation, supporting the business's continued growth trajectory. This is a key cross functional influencing role, that will leverage your commercial experience to drive improvements in sales and profit contribution.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with sales, merchandise, and supply chain teams to align financial objectives with business strategies, providing insights and recommendations
  • Drive commercial transformation and innovation projects aligned with corporate strategy
  • Lead forums to align with internal stakeholders for achieving strategic, commercial, and customer objectives
  • Act as the commercial finance representative to provide insights and analysis for successful brand plan implementation
  • Manage and govern pricing/discounting processes, advising on commercial contracts, and ensuring financial viability of trade agreements
  • Provide FX updates and communicate financial impacts to key stakeholders
  • Oversee sales, gross margin, and contribution margin reporting, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Manage complex sales and margin analysis, explaining variances, and offering profitability recommendations
  • Oversee FX hedging analysis and reporting, and manage customer collections for cashflow integrity
  • Develop and implement pricing and gross margin management processes, including discount programs and trade agreements.
  • Lead major business reviews, including demand planning, forecasts, and budgets
  • Track customer profitability and participate in key retailer and joint business planning meetings

The Ideal Candidate

  • Tertiary qualification and qualified CPA/CA
  • Industry exposure to Wholesale, Retail or Manufacturing or other product-based industry
  • You are passionate about driving process improvements and implementing commercial strategies to achieve intentional growth
  • You will have strong financial modelling and analysis skills
  • You excel at strategic, high-level work but also thrive in hands-on execution
  • You have excellent communication skills and are comfortable partnering with various departments and C-level stakeholders
