We now have a great opportunity for a Construction Manager to join our Supply Chain team based at our fuel storage terminal in Newport, Victoria. This is an 18-month Fixed Term Contract, responsible for the Newport Tank Program which includes the build of two (2) new storage tanks plus additional tank conversion projects for existing tanks.

You will directly support the project teams and be responsible for overseeing associated construction works including safety assurance, stakeholder management, compliance management and inspections.

Job Description

As the Construction Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing contractor activities and all aspects of construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and to the highest quality standards.

  • Oversee day-to-day construction activities and monitor progress against project milestones.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations and safety standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and quality control checks.
  • Manage and resolve any issues or conflicts that arise during the construction process.
  • Prepare and present daily progress reports to the project team.
  • Implement and maintain effective safety protocols on construction sites.
  • Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement and cost optimisation.
  • Participate in environmental assessments and risk evaluations.
  • Identify and mitigate risks that could impact project delivery.
  • Ensure proper commissioning and testing of systems before handover.
  • Manage the formal transfer of the asset to the operational team.

Qualifications

About you

You are experienced with civil, structure, piping, and installation of equipment within Oil & Gas industry with the ability of effective communication and coordination skills.

  • Ideally degree qualified in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or other related engineering fields.
  • Experienced in construction management.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, industry codes, and safety regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Possess excellent stakeholder management skills (both internal and external) and are able to manage complex and strategically important relationships.
  • Familiarity with Australian construction industry standards and local building codes.
  • Able to work autonomously and effectively prioritise and manage your time to meet your commitments and hold yourself accountable for the outcomes.

This is full time, site based role at Newport, 5 days per week with potential additional requirements for some weekend work.
