  • Permanent, Full-time, 35 hours per week
  • Work/Life balance with a rostered day off every second week.
  • Between $89,098.88 and $99,017.88 per annum, commensurate with your skills, qualifications and experience.  Additional remuneration may be available for an exceptional candidate.

Reporting to the Team Leader Environment Health and Regulatory Services, you will be responsible to protect and enhance the community’s environment and public health by developing and delivering environmental, food and public health regulatory programs including the inspection of food and public health premises and onsite wastewater management systems. 

More specifically, your duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Regulate within the LGA those matters where Council is the appropriate regulatory authority under the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997, Local Government Act 1993, Food Act 2003 and the Public Health Act 2010 and associated Regulations
  • Undertake inspections, document and advise the customer of the outcome of service request in accordance with corporate response times for those matters under the positions responsibility
  • Provide specialist advice and reports relating to local government, environmental, OSMS, food or public health matters associated with development applications 
  • Assist in the collection of data and preparation of the environmental health component of all required reporting requirements

About you

To be successful in this position you will demonstrate:

  • Tertiary level qualifications in Environmental Health, Environmental Science or a related discipline
  • Knowledge, understanding and experience in all Environment and Environmental Health functions including the competent delivery of applications, inspections, investigation and enforcement
  • Proven mediation, negotiation and conflict resolution skills and ability to liaise effectively and professionally with external bodies
  • Ability to work autonomously to meet given targets and to work well and contribute proactively within a team environment
  • Flexibility to work outside of, and in addition to, normal hours of work
  • Ability to provide efficient and effective customer service
  • Sound expertise in Microsoft Office applications
  • High degree of verbal and written communication skills

In addition, an ideal candidate would have experience in Onsite Sewage Management Systems, NSW Food Authority’s Authorised Officer and Protection of the Environment Operations Act Statement of Attainment.
