Finance Manager - Retail

The Role

This permanent position plays a key role in Pacific Blue's Retail business, providing financial and accounting support to assist in meeting its goals and objectives. Acting as a finance business partner to the Retail business, the role requires developing and maintaining strong working relationships with Retail management and staff, delivering value-added advice and analysis. Additionally, the position collaborates with other parts of the Retail business, such as billing and accounts payable, to ensure robust financial management and internal controls while providing broad financial support across the Retail team.

This is a full-time position based in Melbourne, with a hybrid work option available.

What you’ll be responsible for:

• Develop and maintain a business partnering role with the Retail business, gaining a deep understanding of key business drivers, the market, and operations.
• Lead, engage, motivate, and develop capability within the Retail Finance Team.
• Actively participate in the retail management team, providing commercial and financial advice to support strategic delivery and key initiatives.
• Lead the Budget and Forecasting process for the Retail business, ensuring alignment on assumptions, opportunities, and risks.
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting for the Retail business, meeting shareholder, Board, senior management, and third-party requirements.
• Analyse monthly results, focusing on key business drivers (e.g., retail margin), and communicate findings to senior Retail management.
• Provide regular financial support to Retail cost centre managers to assist in understanding their Budgets, Forecasts, and financial performance.
• Maintain a strong internal control environment, collaborating with functions within the Retail business and broader organization.
• Identify and implement opportunities for operational efficiency improvements, including system integration and automation.
• Assist in financial analysis for material investment decisions, monitor Capex and customer acquisition costs, and support compliance activities, including liaising with auditors.

To be successful in this role you will have:

Knowledge and experience:

• Accounting degree qualification
• CPA/CA qualification
• Experience in the retail energy or electricity/gas industry; retail analysis experience is highly regarded
• Previous experience in developing a business partnering role/team
• Strong knowledge and understanding of accounting standards
• SAP experience is highly regarded
• Experience in oversee the efficient operation of the team, including staff supervision and development
