About the organisation:

Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron (BYS) is one of Victoria's largest sailing clubs located on the stunning Mornington Peninsula. With a proud history dating back to the 1950s, all 2,500 members share a united passion for sailing and community. They run diverse sailing programs all whilst having a consistent focus on Family, Friendship, and Sailing- which together create a member experience like no other.

About the role

Reporting directly to the CFO with a dotted line into the General Manager, you will closely partner with department heads and be responsible for managing the accounting functions across Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron. The role has broad areas of responsibilities including:

  • Overseeing the clubs accounting for the marina customers & operations, the Food & Beverage business including bistro, bar, and functions, and the financial side of memberships.
  • Overseeing and ensuring the timely completion of month-end close, understanding variances and undertaking deep analysis of key operating costs and margins where required.
  • Preparation of year-end & half-year financial statements and key input into budget preparation.
  • Working closely with multiple stakeholders/ members and the BYS team.



About you:

The successful candidate will bring an element of analytical and commercial acumen to partner the GM, CFO and committee in getting behind the numbers and identifying opportunities to best position BYS and its members. You will also see this as an opportunity to streamline current processes and systems to achieve more appealing outcomes.

Qualifications are not mandatory, its heavily focused on your ability to wholistically understand finance, and be influential at all levels, coupled with your previous commercial experience as either a finance manager stepping up OR a financial controller seeking a positive working environment in a unique bayside beach setting.
