ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the CEO, the General Manager is responsible for overseeing operations, growth and profitability, while leading a team of 40+ in Australia and internationally. This person will use strategic leadership skills to spearhead key business development initiatives, delivery high-impact marketing campaigns and nurture client relationships.
The right General Manager is an integrator that draws on creativity, innovation and collaboration to drive the business forward. The will manage financial performance, lead cross-functional teams and help to build a high performance culture that is dynamic and success driven. The ability to work competently under pressure and juggle multiple priorities is a must in a deadline driven environment. This person will be expected to travel to work related events such as client meetings, industry events and potential business development opportunities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership
- Shape and implement the agency’s long-term vision, aligning it with company objectives to drive sustainable growth.
- Stay ahead of industry trends, leveraging emerging technologies and identifying new opportunities to maintain a competitive advantage.
- Partner with department leaders across creative, digital, strategy, and analytics to deliver cohesive and impactful marketing solutions.
Business Development
- Lead the charge in securing new business by managing pitches, crafting proposals, and delivering compelling presentations.
- Build and nurture strong client relationships, uncovering opportunities to expand services and enhance value.
Client Relationship Management
- Gain deep insights into client needs and objectives to position the agency as a trusted strategic partner.
- Ensure the seamless delivery of high-quality marketing campaigns, addressing challenges proactively to maintain client satisfaction.
Operational Efficiency
- Manage daily operations to ensure processes, resources, and schedules are optimised for success.
- Drive operational excellence by introducing best practices in project management and client servicing.
- Define and track KPIs to measure performance and ensure the agency meets its goals.
Financial Management
- Maximize profitability through careful monitoring of revenue, cost control, and financial efficiency.
- Collaborate with the finance team to develop client-friendly pricing models, contracts, and billing systems that support agency objectives.
Team Leadership & Development
- Inspire and guide senior leaders, fostering teamwork and a shared vision for achieving agency goals.
- Cultivate a positive and inclusive workplace that encourages creativity, innovation, and professional growth.
- Attract, develop, and retain top talent across all functions to strengthen the agency’s capabilities.
Marketing Excellence & Innovation
- Champion the development of innovative marketing strategies, campaigns, and solutions that set the agency apart.
- Foster a culture of experimentation and innovation by staying informed about the latest marketing tools, technologies, and methodologies.
Brand Reputation & Positioning
- Serve as the agency’s ambassador, representing it at industry events, networking opportunities, and public forums.
- Enhance the agency’s standing as a thought leader by showcasing successes through case studies, awards, and industry contributions.
Risk & Compliance Management
- Ensure strict adherence to all legal, financial, and regulatory obligations across the agency.
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to operations, client agreements, or financial performance.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Strategic Vision: Skilled in establishing ambitious long-term objectives and crafting actionable strategies to drive agency success.
- Leadership: Exceptional ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration and achieving results through effective people management.
- Business Insight: Comprehensive knowledge of business operations, emerging marketing trends, and financial performance metrics.
- Client-Centric Approach: Passionate about understanding client needs and delivering unparalleled service to exceed expectations.
- Innovation and Creativity: Dedicated to fostering a forward-looking marketing culture that champions innovative thinking and creative solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 10+ years' experience within the marketing, creative, digital and/or agency space
- 4+ years at senior leadership level
- Prior agency experience or in house experience working closely alongside agency partners
- A strong understanding of digital marketing, paid media, SEO and CRM
- Logical, process driven, high emotional intelligence, motivating, collaborative, visionary, loyal
- Experience leading a high performing team in a fast-paced environment
- P&L management skills
- Equipped with exceptional systems and processes for the business to adopt
- A strong business network
- Experience growing a positive team culture with highly motivated employees
- Experience scaling up and working in a founder led, independent business
- Some knowledge of AI and automation for operational efficiencies highly desirable
