About the role
Based in Melbourne and reporting into the Executive director Community, The Head of Quality and Clinical Governance will play a critical leadership role in ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance within Alliance Australia. This position is responsible for quality management systems, risk assessment and governance frameworks relevant to the community, disability and aged care sectors. This role will work closely with senior management, staff and external stakeholders to foster a culture of continuous improvement and client-centred care.
- Responsible for the implementation of clinical governance frameworks, ensuring day-to-day compliance with clinical policies and practices, ensuring unified clinical governance policies that apply to all service lines, ensuring consistency in practice and accountability across nursing.
- Manage internal audits to Quality of Care Standards for NDIS, ACQSC and ACIS.
- Develop and monitor operational strategies for quality improvement, with focus on measurable clinical outcomes in service delivery.
- Responsible for clinical risk management processes, including reviewing and improving clinical workflows.
- Maintain the clinical risk register. Direct daily operational procedures for clinical risk management and governance, ensuring all staff follow best practice protocols.
- Provide leadership in the development of evidence-based clinical policies and procedures. Work with clinical leadership to ensure that policies and procedures for quality and clinical care are embedded into everyday practice.
- Expansion of Clinical Governance Leadership into nursing teams.
- Chair Clinical Governance Committee, Ownership of Clinical Governance Reporting
- Ensure operational staff are trained and equipped to meet clinical governance and quality expectations in their daily roles – from client intake through to ongoing case management.
- Monitor clinical quality performance through regular operational checks, client feedback and clinical case review.
- Operationalise safety practices in clinical service delivery, ensuring safety protocols are embedded in daily tasks, including infection control and client safeguarding.
- Lead clinical incident reporting and critical/sentinel clinical incidents, including mandatory reporting to regulators (NDIS, ACQS).
- Provide leadership in risk management practices, ensuring safety checks are conducted and documented for clinical and care staff.
About you:
You will have previous experience in a clinical roles and settings preferably in the community and/or aged care sector supported with the relevant tertiary qualifications. You can demonstrate in-depth experience in Quality management systems, risk assessment and governance framework operating at a senior level within the organisation.
Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, who has the ability and desire to influence senior leaders across the community business. You would have previous experience driving change and improvement initiatives associated to the Governance and risk in complex environments.
