The organisation
This is a well regarded ASX listed organisation with presence throughout Australia and a number of consumer brands in its portfolio. Whilst they operate in a competitive industry, they are known for their customer service, operational excellence and extensive product range and hold a significant portion of their market. You'll work with a large finance team and will have the privilege of learning from some exceptional leaders who enjoy supporting your development.
Responsibilities
- You'll report to the Finance Manager and your duties will evolve as you learn and develop. Your core area of responsibility will be the following:
- Ensure high standards of financial and management reporting, analysis, and governance across the group.
- Prepare accurate and timely month-end journals, cost allocations, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Develop annual budgets and quarterly forecasts for group functions, including detailed analysis and commentary.
- Assist in preparing statutory financial statements and accompanying disclosures in compliance with IFRS and local GAAP.
- Provide technical accounting support on complex matters such as leasing, stock obsolescence, and share-based payments.
- Collaborate with external auditors and address audit requests to ensure smooth statutory reporting processes.
- Identify and implement process improvements to streamline reporting and eliminate inefficiencies.
- Contribute to treasury and taxation analysis and provide support for broader finance projects as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety policies, fostering a safe workplace environment.
- Drive best practice and continuous improvement initiatives across the group's financial operations.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate for this position will be someone who is currently an Assistant Accountant or Junior Accountant and looking to learn and grow professionally. You'll have an accounting related degree and will ideally be working towards (or recently completed) your CA/CPA or equivalent. Experience in a larger organisation is preferable but your ability to learn and your can-do attitude are more important. Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise with various different departments and problem solve are essential. Exposure to large ERP systems and intermediate excel skills are important.
