We are seeking a talented individual to join our Accounting team at Marsh McLennan. This role will be based in Melbourne. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

Head of External Reporting
- Reporting to the Marsh McLennan APAC and MEA Controller, the Head of External Reporting is responsible for a wide range of financial and regulatory reporting activities for the region. This role has responsibility for around 45 legal entities, including Broking, Consulting and Holding companies.
- You will be responsible for ensuring all external/board reporting and regulatory compliance requirements are met for the companies under your control. You will be responsible for delivering high quality reporting that is accurate and completed to strict internal and external timeframes. You will also be responsible for the consolidation of financial accounts as required as well as internal reporting to corporate Boards. You will oversee the financial health of entities including solvency and liquidity and deliver on other Group reporting requirements including tax compliance and accounting for other corporate activities.
- You will work as part of the Pacific controllership team with a commitment to achieving deadlines and goals as set out by management and business leaders. You will be involved in corporate activities including but not limited to mergers & acquisition, company restructures, ensuring these are accurately reflected in statutory and regulatory records.
- Deliver high quality financial and regulatory reporting for Pacific Marsh & McLennan covering the businesses of Marsh, Guy Carpenter, Mercer and Oliver Wyman, as well as Holding Companies.
- Lead the Pacific controllership team in accounting for corporate transactions under IFRS including mergers & acquisitions, restructures, funding initiatives, investments, entity valuations, dividend and tax compliance and accounting.
- Represent the finance function, developing strong relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including audit committee and board members, to provide an efficient, cost effective and value-added service.
- Manage the financial statement and regulatory audit process, establishing a constructive working relationship with external auditors and working together to achieve the timely clearance and filing of Annual Reports and Financial Statements and other regulatory returns.
- Lead, motivate and develop the finance teams in a pressured environment and ensure the team is equipped to meet both internal and external reporting deadlines.
- Seek continuous improvement in processes and controls in order to ensure accurate reporting of financial information.
- Take responsibility for External reporting, Annual audit process, Regulatory Operations and Reporting
- Support ad hoc Finance projects, query resolution and investigations/analysis as and when required
- Pro-actively suggest improvements and develop best practices within Finance to improve the cost-effectiveness, efficiency and benefit of the services provided.
- Accounting Qualifications ACA / CPA or equivalent
- 15+ years’ experience in finance with 10+ years management responsibilities
- Financial services industry experience
- Expert knowledge of IFRS and USGAAP
- Strong knowledge of AFSL/APRA requirements
- Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, the ability to meet deadlines and to multi-task
- Ability to communicate with people at all levels; verbal and written
- Excellent working knowledge of Oracle and MS Excel
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work well under pressure
