With a healthy and growing pipeline of work, we are looking for an experienced and proven Head of Safety to contribute to our HSE operations, strategies, coaching, and overall continuous improvement.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and work with our Safety Managers and the broader Safety team
  • Develop and execute evolving safety strategies that align with our values
  • Promote a strong safety culture throughout the organisation
  • Stay updated on safety regulations, codes of practice, and industry standards, ensuring our company's compliance with all applicable legislation
  • Ensure risk assessments and hazard identification processes proactively identify and mitigate safety risks.
  • Oversee the quality of safety training programs, ensuring that all employees and subcontractors are adequately trained in safety expectations, systems, and procedures
  • Collaborate with the ESG and qualitys team to ensure strategies are aligned
  • Provide expertise and advice on legislative and regulatory matters pertaining to WHS
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and issues raised by regulatory bodies, clients and suppliers
  • Ensure conformance for Safety Plans per project team by way of observations and inspections
  • Be an active member of the Leadership team, and an active leader to your own team
  • Steer continuous improvement programs and initiatives
  • Ensure effective handling of incident management, investigations, and reporting
  • Contribute to environmental management and monitoring
  • Steer client engagement and reporting requirements
  • Involvement with tender submissions, providing WHS advice as required

About You

  • Genuine passion for Health and Safety
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in WHS or equivalent (Degree or Diploma)
  • Current White Card
  • 10+ years' experience in construction related safety roles
  • Background of leading medium-to-large scale WHS team operations
  • Capacity to implement strategic plans and continuous improvement
  • Thorough understanding of relevant regulations and standards
  • Proven experience with conducting WHS assurance activities such as audits
  • Understanding of OFSC requirements
  • Advanced working knowledge of Hammertech (or equivalent system)
  • Strong stakeholder management, collaboration, attention to detail, influencing, presentation, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Highly motivated with a ‘can do’ attitude
