Our Rates and Valuations Team is undergoing significant change to keep up with the rapidly expanding community within the City of Casey, ensuring we can provide the right level of service to our community and ratepayers. A bit about the role
As the Head of Revenue and Rating at the City of Casey, you’ll take charge of managing and coordinating our vital rating and revenue activities. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you’ll oversee the accurate and timely collection of rates and other revenues, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies.
This role is key to managing the Council’s significant rating portfolio, making a direct impact on our financial health and community services. If you're ready to lead a dedicated team and drive excellence in revenue management, this is the opportunity for you.
What you’ll deliver
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing revenue and rating team, including overseeing the collection and management of revenue related to rates, State Government levies and general debtors.
- Ensure that property valuations are maintained in a timely and efficient manner, including the management of external contracts.
- Develop and implement strategic plans for revenue and rating operations to align with organisational goals.
- Oversee Council’s financial hardship and debt recovery process, including the engagement of external suppliers whilst ensuring compliance with relevant Local Government legislation.
- Develop and maintain systems, processes and procedures to ensure that the Revenue and Rates team delivers services in a professional and efficient manner.
- Lead, drive and execute the delivery of service objectives, including financial, quality and time related targets for programs and major projects.
What you’ll bring
- Tertiary, preferably Bachelor, qualifications in business or similar discipline.
- Substantial experience in leading and developing large and high performing teams that deal with a large volume of transactions.
- Substantial experience in local government, preferably in revenue, finance or property fields.
- Knowledge of specific legislative requirements, including but not limited to, the Local Government Act 2020, Local Government Act 1989, Fire Services Property Levy Act 2012, Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014.
- Sound understanding of the economic, political and social issues relating to the Local Government environment, with the ability to strategically identify patterns, trends or implications before planning or acting.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check and Eligibility to Work check.
- A curious, collaborative, and inclusive community mindset.
