The Opportunity

  • Senior Financial Accountant
  • 9 Month Fixed Term Contract - Full Time
  • Hybrid Work - 2 days in the office


Reporting to the Manager – Financial Control, this role is crucial to ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of our financial operations. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional to make a significant impact in a fast-paced financial environment.


Key responsibilities:

As a key responsibility, you will be tasked with ensuring the timely and accurate fulfillment of all statutory and regulatory reporting requirements. This includes preparing statutory financial reports and APRA returns, as well as compiling quarterly RG97 financial data. Your attention to detail and understanding of regulatory frameworks will be crucial in maintaining the organisation's compliance standards.


You will be responsible for reviewing daily unit flows, accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, as well as preparing these transactions when necessary. Additionally, you will handle tax compliance matters, including preparing monthly tax provisions, BAS, and IAS, compiling annual income tax returns, and assisting with various tax-related tasks.


Supporting the Manager – Financial Control in risk management will be an important aspect of your role, ensuring all procedures are current and well-documented. You will assist in managing operational risks associated with financial responsibilities. Furthermore, you will be responsible for preparing monthly Vested Benefits Index calculations, undertaking ad hoc projects as directed, and maintaining cross-skilling to support other Finance team tasks. Your ability to adapt and contribute to various areas within the finance team will be valuable in this position.


About You

You should have up-to-date knowledge of statutory and regulatory reporting requirements for superannuation funds and a strong understanding of superannuation tax implications. Proficiency in GL systems and MS Excel is essential, with experience in OneWealth being advantageous.


The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, strong verbal and written communication abilities, and a high attention to detail. You should be able to work both independently and collaboratively, possess a strong sense of responsibility and accountability, and have a good understanding of finance operations risk management principles. An eagerness to learn and grow professionally is also crucial for success in this dynamic role.


Additionally, you have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Economics. CA/CPA preferred
  • 5+ years experience in the financial services industry, preferably with a superannuation fund, is required
