Your New Role

Tonka Learning is seeking a highly experienced Senior Operations Manager with a background in learning and development. Reporting to the CEO, the purpose of this role is to provide a seamless experience for our clients and to work on projects that enable the business to deliver on its long-term growth strategy.


Hours: Full-Time

WFH Flexibility: 3 days in the office (minimum), 2 days remote

Office Location: Richmond, Melbourne


Your Key Responsibilities

Lead the operations function (50%):

  • Manage the annual scope of work calendar.
  • Work directly with some clients to manage end-to-end deliverables.
  • Provide leadership and support for one permanent direct report (L&D Co-ordinator).
  • Lead regular organisational-wide operational meetings and client meetings.
  • Develop and integrate new systems, processes and technologies into the flow of client work.
  • Maintain client communication, measurement and reporting.
  • Work in partnership with finance to maintain cash flow.

Support non-permanent staff (20%):

  • Provide support/direction to the external marketing team on day-to-day brand/communication strategies.
  • Induct and onboard new associate consultants/maintain communication with associate consultants.
  • Manage third-party providers in digital learning and information technology.

Lead business growth projects (20%):

  • Engage with specific business development initiatives, tenders and projects.
  • Organise client/internal events.
  • Update internal/external contracts.

Work in partnership with the CEO (10%):

  • Meet weekly to discuss short/medium-term priorities.
  • Support the CEO calendar (where required).


Your Credentials

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience as an Operations Manager in the learning and development industry.
  • Advanced level MS Office skills; the aptitude to learn quickly with new software, i.e., LMS, Asana and CRM.
  • Outstanding written/verbal communication skills, with high levels of confidentiality and effective influencing skills.
  • A client-focused mindset; a willingness to make client's lives easier and simpler.
  • Able to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines.
  • Work efficiently and productively in independent and team settings.
  • Strong organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
