We Are Mobilise tackle homelessness in a range of ways, including through direct giving programs that are first of their kind in Australia. Ensuring we’re collecting and using data to measure the effectiveness and impact of all our activities is a major priority for us as a charity.


This position is a new role, with the candidate helping to shape the future of monitoring & evaluation, data collection and analysis across the organisation for years to come. Suited to candidates with under 5 years’ experience in any of the following: Quantitative Research, Evaluation and Qualitative Research, Data Science, Statistics, and Economics.


The level of autonomy and decision-making afforded to this role will depend on candidates’ prior experience in relevant fields- more junior candidates can expect hands-on mentoring and guidance as needed. More experienced candidates will be able to manage major projects.

Key Accountabilities


  • Research Design: Develop and implement quantitative and qualitative research methodologies to assess impact across the whole organisation (including programs, campaigns, and other activities). This includes developing or refining program logic models, theories of change, and evaluation frameworks.
  • Hands-On Fieldwork: Conduct surveys, interviews, and focus groups with people facing homelessness, our charity partners, Mobilise staff and volunteers, and other stakeholders.
  • Data Skills: Analyse and interpret quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Project Management: Plan and manage research projects in collaboration with senior leadership and subject matter experts, including major, multi-year projects. Establish and nurture high-impact partnerships with academic institutions and industry leaders.
  • Tech system build: Assist senior staff with building and refining our back-end systems and use of tech to streamline data collection, analysis and reporting, including using automations.
  • Reporting and communication: Producing our annual Impact Report and individual reports explaining what we’re doing and what impact we’re having. Working alongside our marketing team to communicate our impact in a fun way to a broad, public audience.


Core Job Requirements


Essential

  • Relentlessness: an ability to demonstrate an unwavering commitment to your goals and ownership over the outcome.
  • Experience in conducting either qualitative or quantitative research, either independently or in a team.
  • Computer programming skills in Stata, R and/or other related statistical software packages used for data development and quantitative analysis.
  • Fluency in English and the ability to produce high quality written work (please supply an example of your writing during application).
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills.


Desirable

  • Experience using Salesforce and/or Zapier.
  • Demonstrated experience in impact measurement and evaluation methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience of using novel technology to generate insights and improve efficiencies.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading small teams.
  • Higher education qualification in Public Health, Social Policy, Social Sciences, Economics, or related field.
