Meeting #DataCentre electricity demand sustainably was in close focus at the International Energy Agency (IEA)’s Global Conference on Energy & AI held recently in Paris, and attended by Mark Dooley, Global Head of Macquarie Asset Management Green Investments.
At the Global Conference on #Energy & #AI held by the International Energy Agency (IEA) in Paris, Mark Dooley, Global Head of Macquarie Asset Management Green Investments, joined the discussion on the link between AI and electricity demand. A focus of the Conference was meeting the electricity demand of hyperscale #DataCentres sustainably. While data centres today make up a relatively small share of global electricity demand, this is likely to rise significantly over the coming years with the continued rapid growth in AI and digital services. This will place even greater importance on coordination across the energy and tech value chains. Macquarie sees a significant opportunity to continue partnering with technology companies, which are already amongst the largest consumers of renewable energy*. This builds on our experience and capability developing renewable energy projects, including supporting the growth of leading hyperscale data centers, which you can read more about: https://macq.co/6041QN1Nc * BloombergNEF, 1H 2024 Corporate Energy Market Outlook.
