We are extending hardship and emergency support to customers impacted by Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred and subsequent storms in southeast Queensland and northern New South Wales. In addition to accelerated claims settling for property and motor, Zurich can offer emergency and interim payments to ensure its general insurance customers receive immediate support. Zurich’s large supplier network is also ready to deploy assessors and builders once access to impacted areas is available. Zurich Life and OnePath Life customers who have suffered a serious illness or accident that is covered by a life insurance policy can lodge a claim by contacting Zurich or their adviser. Hardship support and financial assistance is also available to life insurance customers who have been directly impacted by the event or are volunteering or working with emergency response teams in impacted regions to the detriment of their own financial wellbeing. Where we welcomed Christine Zeitz, CEO of Northrop Grumman Asia Pacific, as our keynote speaker. She shared her inspiring journey, practical tips for promoting gender equality, and strategies for driving positive change. Following her speech and joining her on the panel Nicolette Rubinsztein AM, Board Member, and Darren Wickham, Head of Group Insurance, hosted by Vilma Attanasio GAICD, Regional Manager. They discussed practical steps to achieve a gender-balanced workforce through transparency and accountability. Today, we announced new commitments to improve our understanding of mental health conditions. Alongside attendees of our latest 'Zurich Mental Health Roundtable' - including representatives from Black Dog Institute, Lifeline Australia, Gotcha4Life Foundation, Bupa and Mandala - Zurich will explore avenues for new research into the drivers of mental illness and resilience to improve our underwriting, claims and prevention services. Other initiatives we have commenced based on feedback from roundtable attendees include: ➡️ Rolling out new mental health and vicarious trauma training for our claims team; ➡️Consulting with the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) to examine the further use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to better understand the causes and drivers of mental ill-health; ➡️Appointing a Head of Health Services to lead Zurich’s medical officers and in-house psychologists to support with mental health claims; and ➡️Updating and expanding our vulnerable customer framework. 2024 was a fantastic year for community activism at Zurich! Our employees in Australia and Zurich New Zealand volunteered over 5,500 hours and supported 260 charitable causes through fundraising and volunteering.   What really stood out this year was the support from many of our external business partners.
