Stade Vélodrome is the home stadium of the famous French team Marseille. It was also one of the venues for the 1998 World Cup in France, France's largest club stadium. In addition, the French national football team is often played here.

No.11 of Best Things to Do in Marseille
_We***24
Yes, climb it - there are probably easier ways to get to this area, but we chose to climb the steps up the street from the Hôtel-Dieu. If we had more time and were feeling better, we would have explored further, but we saw enough to make the trek worthwhile. There were lots of small shops with an endless supply of goods, as well as cluttered attic apartments, flower-filled window sills and laundry hanging out to dry in narrow alleys: we could have wandered aimlessly - and happily - all day.

The magnificent building was designed in 1823 by Penchaud to commemorate the victory of the French Revolution and the First French Empire and was dedicated as a gift to the Republic, the Consul, and the ruler. Its inscription and shallow stone carvings were designed by sculptors David Dangre and Remy, and its vault symbolizes the entrance to the ancient city. We were supposed to be renovating the Arc de Triomphe as we passed it, surrounded by construction sites, but the Arc de Triomphe was exquisite and spectacular. The second picture billboard blocked the location is the Arc de Triomphe, surrounded by the surrounding construction site.

The building is very beautiful. I didn’t go inside because I was afraid of disturbing other people’s bad mood. I took photos outside 📷. Remember to buy Marseille’s special snacks 🥧Navettes nearby!

In 1671, the French royal family ordered the construction of a poor shelter, the Hospice de la Vieille Charité, with the main purpose of building a shelter for the poor and sick immigrants on the streets of Marseille. This is a very strange and selfish mentality, not out of compassion, because the nobles required these poor people not to leave the shelter at will, and they did not like to see these poor people running around in Marseille. The center of the Hospice de la Vieille Charité has an artistic courtyard, the Musée d'Archéologie, and the Museum of African, Oceanic & American Indian Art, which is very eye-catching. In 1671, the nobles of Marseille built a shelter for "the poor and beggars", which is the Hospice de la Vieille in the old town of Marseille. The main part of the Almshouse is divided into two parts: the Pierre Hospital and the Dome Church. It was designed by Pierre, the royal architect of King Louis XIV of France and the author of the Palace of Versailles in Paris. It has the style of the Italian Renaissance, but is simpler and plainer. After several renovations, the Almshouse has now become a comprehensive cultural center that includes the Mediterranean Archaeological Museum, the Egyptian Antiquities Museum, the African Art Museum, and the French Institute of Advanced Studies in Social Sciences. It is said that the ancient Almshouse was not built because of the mercy of the Marseille nobles, but because of their peculiar mentality similar to "cleanliness". They were fed up with the poor who had been running around the streets of Marseille for a long time, so they simply built this shelter and forced them to live in it and not leave at will. Unexpectedly, hundreds of years later, this building came in handy.

This church has undergone centuries of continuous restoration and reconstruction from the 12th to the 19th century. Up to now, it has a mixed Romanesque and Gothic architectural style, so it is quite special and the interior is also beautiful.

Toulon is a famous French naval port and the seat of the French Navy Republic Navy. It has a long naval history in France. The Naval Museum here records the former glory of the French Navy. There are many collections here, from wooden warships hundreds of years ago to the most advanced French Borei-class cruisers. You can see real objects or models here. It is definitely a must-visit place for naval fans.
