If you ever have the opportunity to do this do it!!! I would rate this as one of the highlights of my trip. It was a next level experience. The food was just amazing!!

It was a wonderfull experience to stay at the temple complex. The meals were fantastic and a feast for the eyes. The service was very friendly and helpfull. We strongly recommend rhis accomodation.

Coincidentally, I stayed there on the day of the Belfry Festival. Before the meal, we heard from the chief priest about the origins of Zenkoji Temple. I was captivated by the wonderful voice of the chief priest. The main dish, Shojin Ryori, was served in a red-painted bowl and was beautiful. The food was beautifully prepared and not only looked good but also tasted great. It was so delicious and satisfying that I couldn't believe it was made only with vegetables. I would like to visit again in another season to try the vegetarian cuisine. Since this is an inn for visiting Zenkoji Temple, I think it is better not to use the inn for the purpose of enjoying your stay. It's close and convenient for visiting Zenkoji Temple. The room cannot be locked from outside.
