National Museum Guide

Ticket Booking: Tickets can be booked via the official National Museum WeChat mini program up to 7 days in advance. Time slots are 9:00–11:00, 11:00–13:30, and 13:30–16:00. The museum is closed on Mondays. Entry times are strictly enforced, and you cannot enter the museum outside of your reserved time slot. Getting There: Take Subway Line 1 to Tiananmen East Station. After exiting the station, one group of people will be heading to Tiananmen Square, and another group will be heading to the National Museum. Make sure you follow the right group. You must bring the ID card or other document you used to make your reservation, and enter the museum during your reserved time slot. Visiting: The National Museum is very large. You can start by visiting the Ancient China Gallery on the B1 floor. The exhibits span from the Paleolithic era to the late Qing dynasty, and the artifacts from each dynasty are like a historical scroll unfurling before your eyes. The second and third floors have some temporary exhibits, but you need to buy tickets on-site to visit them. Cameras are allowed in the museum. If you get tired, there are benches and vending machines on the second and third floors. After your visit, you can visit Tiananmen Square, which is a great place to take photos of the Great Hall of the People, Tiananmen, and Qianmen. If you want to continue on to Qianmen and Dashilan, you can leave the square via the Qianmen Subway Station exit.
