Beijing's hidden niche museum: free, uncrowded, and full of history!

If you're looking for an uncrowded and interesting museum in Beijing, I highly recommend this museum in Yanqing! Not only is it free to visit, but there are almost no people on weekends, making it a hidden gem. The museum is divided into three floors, showcasing the historical changes and some cultural relics of Yanqing from ancient times to the present. Although there are no particularly rare exhibits, the exhibition is very well-curated and rich in content, making it especially suitable for those who want to learn about the history of Yanqing. You can see traces of prehistoric human activity, construction during the Han, Tang, Ming, and Qing dynasties, the Guichuan Eight Views that have been passed down for over 500 years, and even the historical stories of Red Pingbei. Walking through the exhibition halls, you can almost feel the distant history right in front of you. There are also exhibitions on the history and culture of the central axis, folk customs, and a topographic model with scenic spot names marked. The content of the three-story building is not tiring at all, but rather leaves you wanting more. What surprised me the most was that the closing time is so late! If I had known earlier, I would have visited the night before. The museum is closed on Mondays. From May to September, it is open from 10:30 to 21:00, and from October to April, it is open from 10:00 to 20:30, with the last entry at 19:30. You only need to bring your ID card to register and enter the museum, with no reservation required.
