Guangzhou | Guangdong's first Hilton Curio Collection finally debuts

Guangzhou, as a city with a long history, has been permeated with Lingnan culture in every aspect. The Hilton Curio Collection hotel, formerly the Yuexiu Hotel which opened in 1960, has already become an imprint in the hearts of the locals. In order to preserve its history, the hotel has customized a series of artworks that showcase the history and culture of Guangzhou, which I will introduce to you one by one. - The first thing that catches your eye upon entering the lobby is the huge crystal chandelier, which upon closer inspection, is shaped like a flower, representing the city flower of Guangzhou, the Kapok. The background is made of colorful stained glass windows with a vintage feel, complementing the marble Kapok patterns on the floor. On both sides of the lobby, you can see two 'sky-reaching' murals, which are extended creations based on the original carvings from the 60s, with the originals embedded within, restoring the cityscape of Guangzhou. The background of the front desk and the opposite seating area are also artworks created with the same technique. The hotel also embodies the local culture of Guangzhou throughout, including the custom metal carvings on the elevator interior walls and the black and gold wood carvings in each floor's elevator hall. The Kapok floor mats in the rooms, the embroidery patterns of Kapok on the headboards, and so on. Even the round-bottomed wooden rack glass cups on the washbasins are custom-made to match the colorful stained glass window patterns found throughout the hotel. The entrance of the hotel is graced by a banyan tree that is over two hundred years old, witnessing the history of the Yuexiu Hotel. - Due to the layout of the historical building, the room sizes are not spacious, but the hotel tries its best to compensate for this shortcoming in the details. Most notably, the hotel provides kitchen and bathroom facilities in the rooms, including a washing machine, induction cooker, microwave, and standard Dyson hairdryer and JBL speakers to effectively enhance the comfort during your stay. Moreover, the soundproofing of the rooms is well done, ensuring tranquility and comfort even in the bustling city area. Opposite the hotel is the nearby Yuexiu Park, where a satisfying meal followed by a walk or a boat ride can soothe your body and mind. - As for dining, the breakfast variety is quite rich, and the dishes are very exquisite. The Chinese restaurant's offerings are also beautifully crafted, with the abalone and caviar siu mai being particularly impressive.
