A Shining Life: General Hong Xuezhi

Exhibited at the Hong Xuezhi Memorial Hall on the second floor of the Jinzhai County Revolutionary Museum, 230 Jinzhai Road, Jinzhai County, Lu'an City, Anhui Province. Hong Xuezhi was a distinguished general who endured many hardships. He always put the Party's cause first, was loyal to the Party, and was full of confidence in the cause of communism, demonstrating the broad mind of a proletarian revolutionary. He was upright and unyielding, yet compassionate. He saved many comrades and subordinates, showing deep affection for his comrades and winning the heartfelt love of the officers and soldiers. He cared about the people and always kept their well-being in mind. He visited Jinzhai seven times during his lifetime to visit his fellow villagers and pay tribute to his comrades who died for the country. He loved his family and married his wife Zhang Wen on the Long March grassland, staying together for 70 years. He always cared about the education and growth of his children, showing a revolutionary's deep love for his family and relatives. He served twice as Minister of the General Logistics Department and was once the military leader in charge of the most finances. He managed the military's finances carefully and never used his power to seek personal gain for himself or his family. He was honest, lived a frugal life, and was strict with his relatives and staff. He always maintained the fine tradition of hard work and was praised by the officers and soldiers as the "Red Steward" who reassured the people.
