Pingnan - Longtan Ancient Village

Longtan Village is located in the northeast of Xiling Township, Pingnan County, Ningde City, Fujian Province. Longtan Village was built in the 12th year of Yongzheng in the Qing Dynasty (1734) and is one of the three ancient towns in Pingnan County, with a history of more than 400 years. Longtan Village is an ancient building complex integrating culture, commerce, and religion, known as the "First Village in Fujian", and is one of China's historical and cultural villages and traditional villages. The history of Longtan Village can be traced back to the Neolithic period, and cultural relics and archaeologists have discovered ancient human activity sites in Longtan. During the Southern and Northern Dynasties, the Chen family moved here from the Central Plains, forming the basic pattern of Longtan Village. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Longtan Village gradually developed into a commercial and cultural center, preserving a large number of Ming and Qing buildings, with rich cultural heritage, including Sipeng Opera, Huicun Bridge, Longtan Old Wine, and so on. Sipeng Opera is a type of opera introduced to Longtan Village from Jiangxi during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. Huicun Bridge is a stone arch wooden house gallery bridge rebuilt during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. The bridge house has 9 openings and 40 columns, with a unique shape, simple and elegant. Longtan Old Wine is a well-known Pingnan Old Wine with a history of hundreds of years of family workshops. Longtan Village is surrounded by mountains on all sides, with clear and undulating streams, and beautiful scenery. The village preserves a large number of Ming and Qing buildings and ancient dwellings, such as the Zhang Family Mansion, Wang Family Mansion, Chen Family Mansion, and so on. These ancient residential buildings have unique styles and are well-preserved, attracting a large number of tourists to visit. In recent years, Longtan Village has become a cultural and creative ancient village, attracting many artists and literary youth to settle in, gradually becoming the "Songzhuang" of rural culture. In short, Longtan Village is not only rich in history and culture, but also a popular destination for tourism and cultural creation due to its beautiful natural environment and rich cultural heritage.
